I finally worked up the willpower to spend $800 and buy an in-dash DVD player. Just got it yesterday. Anyway, I need some help in installing it. I am thinking about putting the brain unit under the seat, as I have heard it fits there nicely. I have no idea what I need as far as wiring harnesses go and whatnot, so I was wondering it someone could help me in that regard. Thanks.

there should be instructions.

simple there is a cable to go from the brain to behind the unit....this will plug into your factory harness ( you will need the adapter plug and connect the wires correctly) there should be another plug that goes from the brain to the actual head unit. also on that unit i dont know if the rca outputs are on the brain or on the unit but i think you can get that part figured out.

i was mainly concerned with connecting the brain to the factory harness. I see the cable that goes from the head unit to the brain, but I was confused about the harness. Are all wiring harnesses the same, or is this a Honda one? Basically what im asking is: do I need to buy some wiring converter or something, or will it plug right in? Thanks for the help so far.

just go to best buy or circuit city and tell them you need a wire harness for your year civic, it will be 15-20 bucks. then connect the colors to the clarion harness and plug it in.

ok, thanks. I probably won't be able to install it until NEXT weekend (swim meet, then homecoming, then working a double on sunday, ugh), but I will try to stop by there before then.

check out the double din pocket switch diy...the screen is much better below the pocket instead of above it. it doesn't cover the air vents as much and less glare from the sun.

hmm, i never thought of that. Does it look good though? I mean, the top and bottom are significantly different shapes. I'll check out the DIY, thanks.
