Anyone have the Pioneer DEH-P8600MP HU?

Yes, I searched.

Ok so I have two questions about this HU for anyone who has it

1. It's got a screen saver blah blah display. Can you disable that so it only shows track info/time etc?

2. Do you like it? Would you recommend it? Is there anything you don't like about it?

Thanks.

Oh yeah, if it's displaying .mp3 track names, does it read from the ID3 tag, or if there is no ID3 tag will it just display the file name? Just curious.

i got to play around with it at best buy... if there's a best buy around your area, you can probably play around with it.. i believe there is a way to show only track time and whatnot... not 100% sure tho..

I have it.
1. Screensaver is just one of the 7(I think) background you can have. Yes you can just leave it at a background where track, title, time is only listed.
2. Definately recommend it. Can't say too much bad about it, maybe just that the screen is get smudged a bit too easily. If I can come up with anything more negative about it I'll edit this post.

but I def like it.

I got the Pioneer Premier DEH-P850

amazing deck
yes you can turn off the background.

THe motorized face leaves the controls at a perfect angle for operation.
The removable face is light and strong
Looks awesome well built and havnt had any problems yet

Can you see it during the day? I hear that's a problem with a lot of aftermarket decks.

i have it too...i like my 8600, it works good. got it for $329.99 at etronics.com. the good thing about pioneer cd players is they aren't as picky like some of the others and can play pretty scratched disks

yup, i do have em..

1. yes, u can disable the screen saver...go to entertainment, and choose the last option..

2. yes, i recommend them...here's what i like and not..

LIKE:
-it has bunch of cool features for subwoofer settings...all the HPF, LPF, etc...
-it has bunch of neat features to modify the audio quality....like the position settings, BBS, SLR...etcetc....
-display's cool...even though it's the same BS when daylight struck ur car...
-very neat motorize face plate...and really easy to take the face out..

CONS...
-how in the heck to use the random mode??? (fawk this)
-why does it always go back to the top directory when u browse mp3 files?? isn't it suppose to go back to the current playing track when u re-browse the cd (by turning the right ****)?? (fawk this again)
-why is it only "function" "audio" and "entertainment" ? i expect more actually...
-fawk circle button on the remote....it's really hard to browse the menu since the button can't rotate....so u can't move inside the menu...

Well, I have the 7600MP, and so far, it's been great. No problems playing discs, except in one instance, and that CD was really scratched up. My previous deck was a Pioneer also, the 6400. It still works fine - I think my nephew wants it Both decks have the OEL display, which is awesome.

I used to have the mp850 and the motorized face broke on me twice... after awhile it wears down i guess.
I had it for around a year before this happened. Eveything else was great on it though.

So the subwoofer volume control on it, is it really spread out over 3 frequencies? That's weird. I was playing with one today at Circuit City. Is it easy to adjust sub volume? Or is it not a true subwoofer volume control?

Does it ever skip? I see that it has no anti-skip mechanism.
