Amp Power
What sup guys,
I need help on getting an amp. I'm planing to get an infinity kappa 60.5cs components and the dude what works at circuit city told me i need 75 RMS per channel to power my kappas. I was like WTF, the kappa is rated 90 RMS, do i really need 75 rms from an amp to power them? isn't that too much?
Please recommend a good amp for me. I plan to get a sub later so I will get a 4 channel amp (so later i can bridge the 2 extra channels to my sub). I'm thinking of Alpine, Infinity, or Polk. Spending limit is like $300 max
Any constructive feedbacks and post is greatly appreciated.

just wondering but do you people really listen to music that loud?
even though my components are rated something like 90watts rms, i dont think i've ever tried pushing more than 25watts into each speaker...even at 15watts, they're loud...

i am using them not bridged but for all 4 speakers at 55w x4 at 4ohms, setting the gain just above normal center, usualy volume at range around 15 out of 35 for hu is loud enuff, infinity is made for cleaness sq, i don't get the idea to abuse them tho~
either 50w x 4 or 75 w x 4 will be good to play the 60.5cs, if you gonna bridge them 75w x4 amp come out even more than 50w x4 amp bridged, notice, he is talking "bridged" while he's going to play with front/sub, if you set the gain all right, you not blowing them either 75w x4, 50w x4, 130w x2, or 200wx 2, just don't turn your gain all the way up. this is what I learned judged me if any of you disagree.
and to turboslug, what do you have set on volume for hu usually? seriously, i did some research and adviced that if you have volume above 50% on hu with external amp powering the speakers, you somehow damaging the hu forgot which part it is. and amp gain can be fine at around 80% with proper control by volume from hu.

55 watts seems too little for those kappas. Since its rated at 90 RMS, i think i'm going to get a 2 channel amp from alpine that is rated at 80RMS. Then later if I decide to ge a sub, i'll get a mono amp for the sub. They said it cost 45 dollars for amp installs not including cables. Damn that cost too much if I decide to install 2 amps at different times. Any suggestions? (dont suggest do it yourself since i have no clue where to even start)
P.S.
Do you guys know where I can buy Monster Cables online for cheap? The guy told me it will cost 50 bucks for 10 gauge wires!

Don't buy Monster Cables. They are the lamest company ever. They have basically lied their way into the position they are in now, and have a giant number of people convinced that their products really are somehow worth the price they are charging. It's all marketing. Their RCA cables are perfectly good, but are way overpriced. They aren't magically better than all other cables, like they would have you believe. And I won't even go into their speaker wire, which are no better than any other speaker wire...
Not sure whether than 10ga wire is for the speaker, but assuming it is, you really don't need wire that large. You can buy any old 14ga or 16ga speaker wire and you will be fine.
If that is for power, which I assume it is not, you probably want a larger wire, especially if you plan on adding another amp in the future. I'd recommend 4ga or 8ga. Again, it really doesn't matter what you get, although the more flexible it is the easier it will be to work with.
RCA cables are a different matter, as you can get more of a variation in quality with those. Still, Monster Cable is a rip off. There are perfectly good ones from http://www.knukonceptz.com -- or buy Radio Shack or Hosa brand ones. I've heard varying reports about shielding; some people say you need it, others have said that they switch to unshielded RCAs and noise went away... believe whichever one you think is right and buy those cables.
Personally, I'd probably pick up some shielded cables, and switch as a last resort if you have noise that you just can't get rid of.
EDIT: And 55W is not too little for the Kappas. Unless it is just a smalle difference in price, I'd say get the 55W one. I'd be extremely surprised if you ever noticed the difference between the two amps (that means SQ wise, or if you ever feel you need to turn the amp up louder than is possible).

Well i guess i should get the 4 channel amp.. but its $300! while the 2 channel amp is $150. I was thinking of getting a 2 channel since I really need it now for the kappas, if i get a 4 channel, i really have no use for it unless i decide to get a sub.
As for the wires, I guess after hearing bash, wires is just wires, doesn't make a big difference whether its Monster or not.
P.S.
Should I get a sub? if i get a sub, i would need a good box for q-logic, probably one of those closed air ones since i want detailed sounds rather than loud, the woofer itself, and an amp. I'm thinking of getting a 10" sub from JL or Infinity (to match the kappa). Please let me know if a sub is realy necessary, since i really dont want to spend all that extra money.
