anybody tried to fit 6.7" (170mm) speakers (they have a mounting depth of 46mm => 1.8") instead of 6.5" (165mm) into the front doors of a coupé EX ?

They should fit, but you'll need a spacer just like you would with 6.5's and possibly trim the metal

do u know wot's the maximum mounting depth for a front door speaker ?

You may not have to trim...it all depends on the speaker basket and magnet size.

I dont know the depth off-hand but its over 2 inches, so thats not a problem. Plus, with a spacer your gonna be shaving even more mounting depth off.
