Subs under Seats??? anyoen with exp? why waste trunk space?
Hello i have a 2004 civic coupe and i was wondering if i could install some subs under the seats... which? if any?
i know i havea pretty big trunk... but... i want to save my trunk space. so basically i need somwehre to put an amp and 2 subs... i have no problem making another box('s) for teh subs... but i need a good place to put them. any suggestions? ... i haven't recieved the car yet because im getting it from a friend still so i haven't had a chance to snoop around inside...
Thanks a lot for your help! Peace!

I have my amp under my drivers seat. I don't think there is any way to put a sub under the other seat. The clearance is not very much under the stock seat. I'd love to do the same myself, because of space.
I'd much rather have a cleaned out trunk instead of a box in there. So I have no sub at the moment, but I did install my amp under my drivers seat. Totally hidden and it works great.

If you want trunk space, I'd suggest either a low-profile sub and a trunk floor box, or taking out the rear seat. I think one of the ICE mods replaced his entire back seat with one huge plexi box, but I can't remember who....but really, with stock seats, you don't have many options. You might be able to work on the back dash and fit 8's in there, but I don't really know...but there are options to save trunk space, if you look hard enough.

JVC used to make a flat sub that fired out of 2 slots. The Digifine series. I bought one at a swapmeet years ago. It's not bad under the seat, and just fits.
Sorry, no pics.

on one of the pimp my ride episodes (w/ the Chevy Luv I think it was) they put 8" RF subs in the arm rest... that is a sweet idea for a truck or any vehicle w/ enuf room up front..
arm rest.... Not like OUR arm rest in the 7th gens. Think of a truck arm rest. Meaning one that sits between the two front passengers. It's like 12" wide or so. It is almost like a rear armrest in some cars.

Here's a pic of my little JVC sub for someone that asked about it.
It's small, only 100 watts at 4ohm, but it fits under a seat.
JVC no longer makes this, though.

Sounds good. Better than the bose sub in an RSX. I am not looking to rattle everyone's windows, though. So for me, this has always been enough. This was one of those rare swapmeet finds. I think it uses a square driver..... I'll have to open that thing up one day. The sub gives good bass, and enhances my stereo well. Better than a trunk box, since it's under the seat. But for you guys that think a 1000 watts is barely enough.... well, you can't hide a sub like that.

that jvc sub is the only sub youll ever be able to fit under the seat
theres only 3 or 4 flat subs on the market (pioneer, blaupunkt, phase linear, and i think one other) but they all require a decent sized box to sound decent, a box that wont fit under a civic seat
and under the rear seat, you have a gas tank, so scratch that idea

then you lose the spare tire. Or, you have to plexi the floor or whatever for the sub. Or you'd end up with a setup like Derik (CEO's) ride. Then you really can't put anything in your trunk. At least I wouldn't at the thought of harming the sub.
I use my car as a daily driver. I use my trunk all the time for groceries, packages, etc.
