Audiobahn - yay or nay?
More specifically, this:

Here is the link to it at Circuit City's webpage. It looks like it got pretty good reviews, but I'm worried about the fact that it has a paper cone
The guy told me it includes an amp and everything so basically it's all you need. It was a 10" sub. He said tomorrow I could listen to one that's installed in his friend's Saturn.
Are these amp + sub things good? Or are they shitty? I don't want competition-winning stuff, just something that will sound good and clear in my car.
btw, I listen to metal and techno, and not so much hip hop, if that affects speaker choice at all.
Thanks.

I've never been impressed by anything audiobahn made. most of their stuff is entry level, and overpriced. you can get much better for the same money or less.

Hey iron fist, your going to be at the meet on saturday right?? I will let you listen to my entry level audiobahn subs and you can tell me how shitty they really sound!!! I got mine from circuit city, buy one, get one free for less then $125, with a three yr warr. They may not be the best subs in the world, but they definetly make some noise.

I was at the one two meets ago (at Hooters in Schaumburg). I don't know if I can make it this Saturday but I'll try!
So back to talking about these speakers
Good or suck?

Good or suck? I never really liked the Audiobahn stuff either. A firend of mine has 2 12" Audiobahn's (not sure which model or anything) in his trunk and the bass is not all too accurate - it's loud but they don't produce tight and accurate bass - the bass is a bit loose and muddy at times - it may be his enclosure as well so it may not be the entire fault of the subs. I wouldn't spend $250 on that - I wouldn't spend $100 on that. You can get a much better sub for a lot less $$$. Look into anything from Adire, eD, Image Dynamics, etc... Great sounding subs for a lot less $$$ then anything you'll find at CC or BB - I have an Adire Shiva and it hits harder and sounds better than any other sub I've heard in any of my friends cars - If you're inclined to look into the CC or BB stuff then I wouldn't go Audiobahn - at least look at something from Alpine - you can probably get an Alpine Type R for a decent price - even cheaper online. Good luck

Good or suck?I wasn't to impressed with mine at first, but once they got broken in, they pound. Not a bad choice. Have any of had any experiance with power acoustic. In perticular the ****-12 OR -15. Look like they could do some damage.

You say you can get cheaper subs than that, but does that include the price of the amp as well?

No but you'd still be better off to save a few more bucks and get an amp as well. Hold out and get what's best instead of rushing out and buying it just because it's there and u have the money, you'll be more satisfied in the long run

I forgot that the Audiobahn set you're looking at included and amp and everything - it doesn't matter to me - they're probably all just lower-grade stuff - I would look into higher end gear - not necessarily the best or comp stuff but look into something that will give you the best bang for the buck - this Audiobahn set doesn't cut it for me. Get everything separtely so you can choose your amp, sub, etc... - It will make a huge difference in sound!!!
