To any one with eclipse subs

OK I was listning to my new young buck cd on the way home from dropping my gf off. And i kinda noticed that the sub didnt sound as loud as it ushaly does, (i have a aluminum 12 running off a jl 500/1). When i got it from tweeter the guy told me to watch out becuse some times the eclipse magnet comes loose from the voice coil and sounds like junk.
Is this the problem?
Has any one else had this problem?

THanks guys

well, for whatever reason that the eclipse woofer may sound like junk, its not gonna be for that reason. the voice coil and magnet never touch, unless the speaker is blown.

if you can, pull the speaker out of the box and shake it. if you hear a slinky sound, then the woofer is dead, and its not as loud because there is less motor strength pushing agasint the permanent magnet.

if the speaker is fine, which it might, be, you should probbaly turn it down for awhile and let your ears catch up.....

that is the case if you hear the slinky sound. the slinky sound you might hear would be caused by delamination of the voice coil. more often than not, when teh VC delaminates, teh speaker siezes. but sometimes the coil wrappings just flop around in there. speaker still works, but less well since theres less force on the cone from the coil.
