Does the whine change as your RPMs change? How are your wires routed through your car? Sometimes, if the big power wire runs with the RCAs, they can pick up interference. The best would be to run both on opposite sides of the car, and if they have to cross, cross at a right angle. try move your RCAs around and see if it improves.

Try a different grounding spot

Ground loops can be a pain in the *** to fix, luckily for you I know a lot about them

Find me on AIM or MSN later and I'll help you out in better detail

Check your grounds as well, I would say it is ground before gain...

I don't understand... aren't you just masking the problem if you turn down your gain? People are talking like the gain IS the problem. You are still picking up alternator whine somewhere, you are just making it harder to hear if you turn down your gain!

Or am I missing something?

Nasty buzzing sound!

Hi folks!

I recently bought a new Pioneer 3600 HU for my ride and I hooked the front output (RCA) to an amp.

The problem is that the HU makes an annoying buzzing sound (not very loud, but still). When I turn off the radio, it goes away.

Any way to make it go away? It's not the type of buzz that changes with my RPM, nor it is a 60hz ground loop (hum).

Thanks!
