Arrow Size for speakers?

Hi!

I'm looking to replace the company speakers in my 2003 Sedan Civic. I'd like to know what size of speakers it takes for the front and for the rear.

Also, any suggestions? I'm looking for a great sound, but don't want to spend a couple of K's on this!

Thank!

watch out for the depth in the fronts... to deep of a speaker will require a spacer. My rocks took a 1 inch spacer...

I'm currently looking at 2 1/8" and 2 3/16"

Will they fit? I don't get it... why could I need a spacer? because of the tweeter coming out of the speaker?

Thanks for answering a car audio newbie

if you were putting 6.5 inch speakers in the front, some of them are really deep. stock speackers are like an inch - inch and a half. My rocks are a good 4 inchs deep. With out a spacer they would hit the door (the back of them) and in turn not let the window roll down all the way... I have no idea about the size speakers your looking at... oh well.. .time to go home for me

i would say all aftermarket speakers for the front doors will require a spacer

the hole is not a circle. even cheapie speakers will not fit the hole without the spacer. the basket will hit the sheetmetal

Where can I get such a spacer? Should I just make my own?

Anyone replaced the front speakers in a 2003 Sedan? Will 2 3/16" fit?

Thanks!

People here have put in 3" speakers in the front, so 2 3/16" should be fine. You will probably need a spacer, though. You can buy spacers (try CarDomain), or you can make your own (I made mine out of 7/8" MDF using a jigsaw).

Or you can do what my installer did and cut the opening in the door. My speakers were so deep that they wouldn't fit at all without trimming the opening for the stocks. I don't regret it one bit, plus if done right the stocks will still fit in the expanded opening.

Drop-In...

I'll have to check with my installer (going there on Friday anyways to get my new alarm and double 12" installed), but I think my Eclipse 8363s were drop-ins.

I'd have done a DIY, but I like having a 3-year warranty.

What's a good pair of speakers to put in my ride? I listened to the Infinity's 6002i and 6.25i and I wasn't impressed.

Thanks

I about to buy new fronts for my coupe also - i realise that a spacer would be required but does this mean that the speaker will no longer fit under the stock grill cover in the door? It is part of the entire door trim. Does it fit even with speaker under full excursion (i.e. the cone doesnt hit inside of the door) and also can the windows still be fully brought down...cant be having my cigarette arm restin on a bit of glass now can i?

Was looking at the Alpine SPR176A 6.5" component set...any other suggestions within this price range (114GBP)

thanks

JL Audio, all the way! I listened to both, the JL are a much better deal. A little more expensive, but its worth every penny.
