anyone who would reccomand a set of speakers?

I have alpine CDA-7893 head unit with 60 watts.

I'm satisfied with the sound quality right now, but would like it better if it's improved.
I would like component speakers rathers than a coaxle speakers. But I heard some really good ones need to be amped but I just want speakers that can be supported with the head unit I have.

so, please help me out here.

yea really good speakers usually need an amp to go with em. a plus on the sounds end if u have the $, but if u don't wanna front for an amp then it kinda sucks. look at kenwood speakers, they have 5 1/4'' speakers that are about $50 a pair, and from what i understand they require none or little modification upon installation. keep me posted.

I have infinity reference 6.5 all around with sub and tweeters. They are very good for the price of $100 a pair or cheaper. Stock speakers are just awful.

I recommend Alpine Type-S 6.5" components, part # SPS-171A

I give my recommendation as a personal user of these speakers, and they are designed as such that they are very efficient in how they use power, therefore, are an excellent candidate to be powered off of a deck. The clincher with these is that they include spacers for a 7th gen Honda Civic (which fit perfectly I might add), so it's an all-in-one deal.

Any further questions, please ask.

There are tons of speakers out there that sound great. Asking for speaker recommendations is like asking what the best song is.

Try searching Google Groups for various different brands/models. You'll get a lot of opinions. Weed through and find the people who sound like they know what they are talking about. That's what I did, and I am happy with my choice. (And when you have a list of speakers, it's a lot easier to get opinions.)

By the way, this works for finding good wines, too...

I disagree, I think the best way to find a good wine is to drink until they ALL taste good

sir, from my experience, especially if you add no sub, if you want to run speakers off a headunit, youre gonna be really well off with the stocks. also, any speaker resembling any sort of quality will sound like butt running off a headunit. my best advice is save some money, and get yourself a good set of speakers with an amp.

Do some Bostons like the FX series, not high end, but pretty good for no amp.

I'm looking into the Apline Type S, Infinity Reference, or Infinity Kappa's - all 6.5" - do I get 6.5" for the rear too or do I need 6x9's for the rear (coupe). I've been searching but I can't seem to find a straight answer.

You CAN get 6.5" for the rear deck if you use an adapter, or you can use 6x9's. I've heard of clearance problems with 6x9's, but I've done that upgrade myself and I had no problems, just make sure your drivers don't have an extreme mounting depth.

6.5's back there would probably sound better, so you can always try that, personally I would go for a set of components back there as well for better highs to match the mid range.

To provide a simple answer though, you can go with either 6x9 OR 6.5", your choice.

One thought that just popped into my head is that you might need to go with a 5.25, I am not sure if the hole back there is wide enough for a 6.5", but if you want to go the component route back there, let me know and I will look into it for you.

Let me ask a question no one has asked yet, rather than just throwing out suggestions based on things they've heard, or that they have in their vehicles. (Ludlam did make a good suggestion, so I can't detract from that, because it was a very true statement, upgrading the speakers is pretty much for naught unless you are going to amp them, especially if it's a component set. And Neon made me chuckle.)

What type of music do you listen to mostly, and what frequencies are you wanting to improve upon (ie. low, mid, high)? That way we can give you suggestions that will improve the sounds you hear coming from your speakers based on your listening tastes, and what you like out of your speakers.

Ok, not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but Im curious to what the differnece between speakers your gonna run off your HU and speakers your gonna run off an amp are? also Im looking for some speakers (that will be ran off a 4 channel amp) and pioneer HU. I listen to mostly rock and punk, I just want a really crisp clean sound.

There really is no difference.

Some speakers are more efficient and will get better sound and more volume off a head unit amp that other speakers, but that is about it.

Anyone hear or try Nakamichi speakers? I wanted to keep all the brands the same for no reason.

Nak decks are top of the line, but I can't offer my opinion on the speakers, but I would imagine that they are an amazing product as well

I am considering purchasing their 6.5" components. But no one really knows of them, thus, the lack of reviews.
