What do you think of this setup?
Right now I've replaced all my stock speakers with Alpines, and have 2 8" Audiobahn subs hooked to a 400w RMS Sony amp. In the very near future, I'm planning on the following:
Blaupunkt 'Casablanca'CD51 head unit
Nakamichi PA-1004 50w x4 amp (to power speakers)
And I have these sitting in my room waiting for a head unit with a subwoofer output;
JL audio 15w0 subwoofer
JBL 160w RMS amp
What do you think of this setup once I get everything installed? I'm planning on keeping the 8's to assist the 15. As far as enclosures go, I was thinking about putting the 15 in a fiberglass enclosure in the right rear corner of the trunk, and then the 2 8's in a similar enclosure on the left side. Then make some sort of fiberglass thing holding all 3 amps on the inside of the trunk lid. Whad'ya think? Constructive criticism welcomed!

I was also thinking about wiring in a power inverter, and have a wall outlet fiberglassed into one of the enclosures. I think that would be cool to show off to people. And when I install my xbox, I could wire it into there also.

amps ON trunk lid could be:
1) a pain to wire cleanly and
2) make for a heavy trunk lid. if you didn't gas shock DIY you'd need to and might have to play around with the shock strength to have it be effective
i'd say have the 15 in the center, and the 8's one on each side. symmetrical trunks are cleaner to me

that's what I'd really like to do, but the problem is this: i need a fully functioning trunk space too. This is a daily driver and needs to haul bags and crap around in the trunk. I was thinking about putting the three in a symmetrical setup all in the "under the rear deck" space. But, I don't think the 15 would fit in there; would it? That's where my 8's are now, in a carpeted enclosure, and it's pretty nice. Doesn't take up hardly any trunk space. Maybe I could fiberglass those in in that space, do a single 15 in the right corner, and maybe get another 15 for the other corner down the road???
Oh and about the blaupunkt....I've been reading lots of reviews, and no one says anything about CD-R playback. The main irk is that the display is hard to read. That's about all I found.

that sounds like it'll be a nice setup. this really rich guy i know was gonna get an all sony setup: head unit, speakers, two 8s two 10s two 12s and two 15s. and he was gonna put it all in a stang cobra. i dunno if that's even theoretically possible. anyways...lemme know how ur setup goes.

wow. That would be crazy. I was actually planning on selling the 8's and Sony amp and just have the 15, and on down the road buy a JL audio 12" woofer. But I thought about it and why don't I just keep them; they hit very hard, but just lack the really low rumble I want, and hope to get from the 15. I might be buying all this stuff in as soon as 2 weeks; i'll keep you posted.
