factory crossover??
factory crossover??
is there a crossover or something for the tweeter in the EX? i am thinkin of running new wires from an amp to the front speakers but i still want the stock tweeters and coaxial speakers to work. is this possible and where would i have to splice into the factory wiring??
If I'm understanding, you basically want to amp your front speakers. The easiest way to do this would be to find the wires from the HU that connect to the speakers, and just connect those wires to the amp's output, that keep everything on the speakers intact. The downside is the thin stock wiring, but you should be fine unless you're putting a lot of power to the speakers.. which the stockers will probably pop anyway
I ran 50 watts RMS a side to the stock fronts for a while and they were fine, actually sounded pretty good. There is a bassblocking capacitor in the wiring inside the door for the tweet, so all you gotta do is tap the speaker wires behind the HU or in the kicks and you'll be all set.
for me, there's a time between getting new speakers and having the amp, so I might as well amp the stocks, if they pop, then there's more reason to get new speakers. If you keep the volume at a decent level, more power can only make it sound better.
i have the polk ex 6.5 for the fronts and wanted to keep the stock tweeter. i want to use thicker speaker wiring instead of the thin stock ones. so my question is, how can i use different speaker wire without losing the stock tweeter??
Just run your thicker wires to the lower speakers, then trace the leads to the stock tweeters. If the bass blocker is close to the tweet, then you're fine, just splice it in. If the bass blocker is farther down, move it closer to the tweet.
