boston acoustic pros

how is their build quality??

how do they sound compared to mb's focals, jl's..

is it worth it for a pair of used proseries 6.5 for 220US? possibly knock off 10-20 bucks...

for that price definitely, only problem, theyre power hungry mother****ers. ive heard of people running 300+ rms a side to them.

i wouldnt do anything less than 150 watts rms, if not 200 rms for them
loud as ****ing hell speakers

theyre good all around speakers, my opinion is just that they really dont excel anywhere above other products on the market for their going price. for the price youre saying though, definitely a good choice

okie great... but its a 3ohm speaker.... 4ohm ppi 4240 will cook.... even bridged i'll only have 120w per channel.

i emailed ppi, they said i'd need a fan cooling the amp.... for sure thatz a bad thing.

I used to run these speakers off an older PPI 2600.2 2X225wrms at 3ohms Amp never got hotter than usual and speakers took all the power.. more power you wanna run higher you set the crossover.

I'm running 6.5 Pro comps from an Alpine MVR-F340 and they sound great!!

Ludlam - I'm aware of their high handling capacity, but is a certain amount actually required?

there's never a requirement for speakers. 1 watt will make any loudspeaker produce sound. however they are pretty inneficient and generally to get em loud and clean at least a 75Wrms amp works well.. Least amount of power I gave my set was 150Wrms to each side. got louder than I needed them to get.

My friend has two sets of old BA Pros with 100 watts each of a US Amps amp...and they get obnoixiously LOUD!!!! ...and they hhe has had them for awhile; which speaks for quality and reliability. I think that some people would concider them bright, but I like bright speakers...I think that they have similiar characteristics to Quart premiums, but they can take more power.

btw, my friend crosses them over at like 220 hrtz.

Just to let you know....the 3ohm rating is nominal.....if you take an ohmmeter and measure the terminal resistance of of any high-end speaker you will read a value between 3.1 to 3.8 ohms.

youve got it wrong sir... 3.1 to 3.8 meanss 4 ohm nominal

dcr of a speaker, or what you measure with a dmm, is its lowest possible resistance, its resistance at rest. a speaker with 3.1 to 3.8 dcr has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms.

these speakers have a dcr somewhere in the 2.x range, making them a 3 ohm driver
