Anyone know anything about them?

My brother-in-law works for a home stereo place that will soon start carrying car audio, and the brand is Planet Audio. I am looking for a Motorized in-dash DVD player and he is able to get me one when they come in at his discount which is like 60% off retail or something, he said it would cost me like $700.

Anyways- here is which one I think he is talking about. Looks pretty good with good specs but I have never heard of the brand (tho it sound familar...)

I've heard good things about Planet Audio. Run a search for them on Google Groups and see what people have to say about them...

i don't know much about the motorized DVD players planet audio makes, but the speakers and amps sell like crazy around here, and sound great, i can only imagine the DVD will be just as good

On another forum I post in, a local car forum, someone posted back and said he had a Planet Audio amp and absolutely loved it.

I cant find anything on google about the motorized dvd player, but everyone was raving about the amps and ****, which is good cause then I could maybe get a more powerful amp from planet audio as well at my discount price!

i always thought the name was ghey. their amps aren't bad, speakers are over priced (not bad, just can do better and nothing special), i think their subs are average on a good day, and have no knowledge of HU's from them.

I just spent about 1500 on a custom trunk setup...

planet audio sub, and it was going to be a planet audio amp but it's on backorder, so i got a crossfire 5channel amp. I also bought planet audio components for the front. everything from planet audio that i've heard sounds insanse. very happy with them

Generally that sort of thing doesn't tell you much.

In fact, if it tells you anything, it usually tells you the opposite of what you seem to be saying. If a company has more than one brand of a certain product, it is generally because they want to appeal to different buyers (e.g. one brand is "high end" and the other is "low end"). So because Planet Audio is Boss, that probably means that Boss and Planet Audio are not the same quality.

everybody has an entry level brand for the market...you thing Lightning Audio Bolt amps from best buy are the same at the MB Quart Q series amps??

planet audio is nto one of the more reputable brands, most people would take rockford and JL over PA.

that being said, a buddy of mine carries PA stuff. I cant beleive how loud it is for the money. you can get subwofoers that the shop buys for $20 a pop that blow away anytyhing eclipse or JL has for triple the money, cost. much less retail!

the new amplifiers are strappable, I dont know much about the class a/b amps, id be weary, they use cheap japanese components in them.

when all is said and done, in my own car, my stage is currently run by tube amplifeirs built by planet audio designed by Zed Audio, which carries one of the best reputations in teh buisness, as is my understanding. Zed carries the same kind of weight with amplifiers as Burr Brown does with radio's.

whats the difference? .... ...damn cheap japanese transistors....

Everyone has got alot to say- almost all positive- about they amps and speakers but nobody seems to have their headunit or motirized in dash dvd player... Oh well, Im waiting for him to get them in stock and see how they are in person and figure out exactly how much I can get it for .

hey i will call the local platen audio shop in the morning and find out.... its HUGE here in my little town.. thought about getting their stuff for my self.. now that everyone is pumped about there sh*tt i might go out and get it sooner...

theyre speakers are a joke

years ago illusion audio came up with an amazing idea of putting the motor of a subwofoer in FRONT of a speaker to have a 15" subwoofer with like 3" of mounting depth, they were a fantastic sucess.

PA made some 6.5's with teh inverted magnet, but theres no depth advantage. its still like 3 inches deep. what a waste of a technology, just to sell junk.

subwoofers are cool, though. Zetars are REALLY loud. think Power HX2 loud
