I'd buy a used Eclipse unit off Ebay for $100 - $200, use http://maps.yahoo.com when I need to know how to get somewhere, and watch DVDs on my TV at home.

And I'd have $1k+ ($1800+ if you are paying MSRP) for other stuff.

i don't buy any head unit that doesn't make it's own gravy... i think he was saying gps and dvd players are pointless in cars. and with the way legislation is going, i'd have to agree. but then video has always been a distant second to audio for me
