Civic 04 MP3 player
I am planning to install a new mp3 player in my car - a black Honda Civic LX 04 Sedan.
Need a nice deal, and good quality is a must..
pls advice which ones are good ones..should support regular audio/MP3/CD-Rs/CD RWs and should be easy to install plus FM radio quality should be good.
I know i am asking for too much, but well..whatever.. links/advice/tips everything is welcome..
Also need to know if there is any kind of wax available for shining the INTERIORS of the car..
for MP3 player.....consider crutchfield.com if you want to install it by yourself..
or...IMO..
Circuit got this..
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=87523&m=0
installed for free...+adapter & wiring harness...
or this..
http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&oid=87376&m=0
for interior, im using ArmorAll....however, it's not the best protectant you can get out there....some other members will suggest more...
hope this helps =)

Alpine is very nice for MP3 playback...just be carefule though I got one and the display is a bitch to see!! Also check out Clarions! I use Meguiars dash trim foam for the inside of my car...works great!! Here are some links to better help you out....
Meguiars Link
Clarion Link 1
Clarion Link 2
Kenwood Link
Heard nothing but good about the Clarions and my brother has the Kenwood and it rocks too!

find the HU you want from Crutchfield or sounddomain.com (what fits my vehicle). Then go to pricegrabber.com to find it a little cheaper. Lastly, get yourself a wiring harness and install it yourself.
edit: oh yeah, I'm getting the Kenwood one.

ALPINE all the way man..
Clarions are pretty nice too, but they don't look as good as alpines.
Also, don't forget to check out Ebay!!!!
Clarion745's run around 270's on Ebay I think.
Alpine9833's are about 330.(370including harness and wires for our car)
^^^^^^ those 2 are my suggestion.

zen_master, can you see your display from the driver's seat? I refuse to install a radio that does so many things better than stock, but can't even provide a usable display.

Alpine Decks are great as far as MP3 playback goes. Another option you may want to check out are Pioneer decks(either of their lines, pioneer or premier). By far the best deck, that's non in-dash screen IMO is the P90HDD for MP3 playback. It has a 10 gig hard drive, accepts memory sticks, and has built in dsp. The downside to that is it's rather pricey (I've seen it on sale at a little less than $1100). Their new deck that may be worth checking into is the p8mp. It's not nearly as expensive as the p90. Some of it's features are BMX digital compression, SFEQ, IP-Bus sys control, and it's a different looking unit. Some more of their decks you may want to look into are the p960, p860, both of which have an upgraded multi-color organic EL LCD screen, among other new features. The most expensive of the last three I mentioned will set you back at most $450. Not sure what your budget is, so it's hard to say which. I've seen all of the alpine recommendations, so I didn't feel the need to reiterate those, I was just giving you some more decks you may want to check into.

You can try Meguiar's (or Mothers, not sure) Back to Black for your dash. I've never used it but I've heard it's very good and I trust my sources. Armor All drys out your dash by absorbing the water and moisture in it, causing it to eventually crack

Most Civic's have a visibility problem with ANY aftermarket deck because of the way the deck is placed in the dash. This is only apparent when the sun is shining directly into it, otherwise they are fine. The viewing angle is good and high enough that when not in the direct sun, they are awesome.

The dash angle sucks. A lot of the HU's are hard to see. That's a sacrifice you make I guess. I've, personally, never had a problem with the organic EL display on my dash. And then, once I flip flopped the pocket and the HU location, it was even better. I'd recommend anyone that hasn't yet invest in the two metra pieces to swap the pocket and HU's locations on the dash. It's still in plain view, yet is much easier to read in all viewing lights. Some might not have a problem with that, I didn't like the location, so I changed it.

This pocket flip flop mod could be the ticket for me to get the HU I want. It's really a shame you don't have a digi cam, PopcornPlaya. I'd really be interested in seeing it, and I searched for pics of someone else's pocket mod and couldn't find anything.
