2 amps

would it be safe to run two 800 watt amps on a stock 03 coupe battery. Has anyone done this already without a cap?

You should be just fine, but it won't hurt to get a better one.

I'm currently running more than 2000W RMS off the stock battery. The only thing I did was run a properly fused 1/0 cable from the battery to a distribution block for my amps and 1/0 from the chassis to a distribution block for my grounds. My amps are hooked up using 4g (it is 4 4g runs each for power and ground).

I don't get any dimming. I think having big enough wire helps with diming.
My car still starts so I would guess I'm not doing much harm to the battery. Don't know for sure about what I'm doing to the alternator but time will tell if I'm over stressing it.

Oh. and I don't have a cap in that set up.

For reference the amps I'm running are:
Precision Power Inc PCX-2400
Rockford Fosgate 1050S
Alpine MRV-F540

wire helps, but if u want to get the most out of the car, i would reccoment upgrading the ground, and using atleast a cap. i wouldnt worry about the batt. it is the alternator i would worry about.

nuzio42,

I couldn't agree more. Except on the cap. I don't think you realy need them. They just look cool But thats a religous argument I probably shouldn't start.... Opps.. Too late. It just started
