I am going to install a cd player in a Jeep. It is about a 1990 Hard top. so how would i go about installing it in there. I believe that i pretty much know how to do it, just rip the old tape deck out, remove the wires from it put them in the back of the new cd player and set it in. is that all i have to do or is there something else?
thanks

I'd go and see if your local Best Buy or Circuit City has a radio install kit for the 90 Wrangler. Also get the wire harness so you don't have to cut any wires. Should run you about $15 each and there will be install instructions with both of em.
Hope this helped.

there is no radio install kit for that model year wrangler because the OEM radio is DIN
You just undo two screws (gotta get on your back in the passenger footwell and look up under the radio) and then unplug it, plug in the new harness, and screw the new radio in.

That kit is something new...never seen it before, you definitely don't need it. And yes, the 87-95 Wrangler (YJ) had pretty much the same dash has the 40-86 CJ's. The change to the Chrysler 1 1/2 DIN came in 1997 with the TJ version of Wrangler (circular headlights returned, along with coilsprings instead of leafs in the CJ and YJ's)
That was probably more than you wanted to know about Jeeps, but oh well

The kit allows you to mount to the factory screw locations as well as recessing the aftermarket head unit behind the factory bezel. It's something I just figured out a couple of months ago.
I used to use the factory metal bracket for the install or go cheap and cut the dash bezel.
