Need help with amp install

I am hooking up an Alpine M-350 to some Pioneer subs. The amp will not turn on. After checking everything, connecting the remote wire to the +12 inplace of the power antenna, and replacing all the fuses I went out and got a volt meter. With the car off I am recieving 12volts or more to the amp but with the car on and running I get about 9 from the battery and about 9 from the remote start wire.

What I want to know is will a bigger battery help?

only 9v w/car on? hmm...might be your alternator? you should be getting 12v with car on. you don't have a remote amp turn on wire...you won't be using your amp if you're playing a cd

You wired it wrong...put the remote start wire on the remote wire lead of your radio harness (if you have aftermarket radio)

If you are using your OEM radio then use an ignition wire or the cig lighter.

I have wired it both ways from the ignition wire and the remote wire, both draw only 9v.

edit: If I disconnect the amp from the power cable I draw 12 volts from the remote wire. And all of these readings are with nothing else on.

Note to self check ground wire if you have problems with electrical stuff.

LOL I forgot to crimp my ground wire and it fell out of the eye, but was resting on a painted bar. So I was only getting a few volts.

Sounds like there may be a problem with your amp.

Nothing in your car should ever read 9 volts, unless explicitly designed to do so. That raises a major red flag right there.

My suggestion is to hook up a different amp and see what kind of results you get.

i'd say check the ground...if the ground is not connected to anything, your voltmeter will be measuring voltage with respect to air..heheh..
