i wanan know if there is a way to see if your subs are blown or if you have a paper rip. im sure this owuld be a good thing for everyone to know.

several different ways of checking to see if a sub is blown.

1. put a 9-volt battery to your sub and see if it pops
2. hook up a multimeter to it and see what ohms the sub has...should be the same as it is rated.

what if the sub is wired at 1 ohm but its reads 1.55 ohms from the mutimeter... is that bad

also, you can pull the sub out and shake it up and down, if you hear a rattle like a slinky inside the motor, the coils are delaminating.

if you just push the come in and you feel a grinding, that would be the voice coil, then that usually means its blown too.

multimete set to ohms test both sides of the terminals black to red red to black or vice versa just mesuaring resistance fingers off the contacts
should be withinn .50 of the rated ohms
dont push the cone or pop it with a battery

i think DC resistance on a speaker can be slightly different than the rated impedance

go look at the spec sheets to see what the DC resistance is supposed to be

I believe if you pop the VC, their will be an extremely strong odour, like burnt musty smell
