Sorry boys, I have no digi camera, so no pics just yet (i'll have some next week, I took a couple, but the roll of film isnt done yet so I cant get em developed yet.)
Display: Kicks *** for the most part, is visibile in direct sun, only 5 "screensavers" but Alpine is supposed to make more available via iPersonalize once they get the first couple production runs done. There are like 6 different settings for displaying info, my current setting is for XM to display the artist, song name and station number, and when playing an MP3 disk it will display Song, Artist, File number, Track number within the file and on the CD, and the bitrate.
It should also support CD Text (a lot of Alpines in the past didnt for some reason) however, I don't have any disks with CD Text info, so I cant check it out.
Usability: Typical Alpine, I love it, the menu system is super easy (for those accustomed to Alpine, although, I think even for those not used to it, it should be quite easy to learn.)
One button opens access to almost all the settings, including the crossover and equalizer settings. Volume **** and FF/RW allow you to adjust settings.
EQ: Is very good, 6 different bands, and you pick one of 6 frequencies to adjust within each band. Has a Q settings (1.0 - 3.0 in .5 steps) and 6 steps up or down from flat for each band. (not positive how many dB it is, I havent read the manual yet
) You can store 6 of your own settings, and you can take the stock ones and adjust them to suit your needs.
MP3/WMA: Excellent, the ability to scroll through folders/songs without interrupting play is great, HU supports up to 512 MP3's or WMA files on one disk.
Colors: The 4 large buttons (RW/FF/Band/Power) can be changed to any of 512 colors, the rest of the buttons, and the glow around the **** can be switched from Alpine Green (those of you with Alpine units know this color) or Amber (matches coupe dash lights PERFECTLY)
Cons: Not too many here, and they are relatively minor, but, the display dims a bit too much when you put the headlights on, and when you switch the display from auto dim to manual, it dims itself all the time, and there doesnt appear to be a way to switch it to normal. Correction for this would seem to be to leave it on Auto and cut the dimmer wire...we'll see, but I dont think its a major enough problem to warrant me taking the dash apart again to cut the wire.
The clock is perpetually in 24 hour time, I can't find a way to switch it to 12 hour, but I didnt spend too much time on it. Theres no mention of it in the manual.
Regular burned CD's (only burned ones, not purchased, and not burned MP3 disks) take a *little* too long to load, however, that doesnt seem like it's gonna be an issue, because all my CD's will now be MP3 disks.
Also, on a side note, it has better FM reception than my previous HU, which was an Alpine 7893.
Thats about it...if you have any questions about it, post here or PM me and i'll try to answer them as best I can.

Whoa, looks like they finally improved the display from segmented. Awesome deck.
They call it a bio-lite display. cool.

I saw Mystic's HU this week and the display is killer.....
I also like that you can explore the MP3's and folders without having to listen to the songs.....

Sorry guys, I can't provide more of them...the shop had to pull teeth just to get me one...it was actually the model they were supposed to use for display on their board, the first one came in the 1st week of April but it was cracked, so I had to wait 3 more weeks for this one.
Tweeter wont even be stocking them for 3 more weeks...if you give it another month or so i'm sure they'll show up on ebay for around $450 or so.

i do like alpine's random feature for mp3's too. you can do random by folder or the whole disk, something my excelon won't do (just folder)
that display is pretty nice. steep price for a deck, but it seems to be worth it.

Hey Mystic3030,
I don't mean to jack your thread, but I have a similar head unit (I have the CDA-9833) and want to make sure I'm wiring it correctly. Here is the link to the thread I started with my original question about my wiring. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
