Upgrading the grounding wires
Is there any real points to replacing the stock grounding wires. Also whats the difference (if any) between the $100 or so grounding kits off of Tornactive and stuff and the ones you can get for like 20 off of ebay?

Just make your own ground kit
And personally I don't believe there is any point unless you have a high powered stereo, in which case you want to do your big 3, which includes the alternator wire upgrade in addition to the grounds.

Grounding will help on our cars. If nothing else, upgrade the stock grounds from battery to chassis, tranny, and engine. You can get a $40 kit from Happies on the forums, or just make your own from stereo ground wires.

one
one of many companies who make these things and dyno test the product

Personally, I've argued this issue a lot, and I was finally convinced by a knowledgable member of this board that wire upgrades are really not necessary. I run 1000wrms and I compete and win with it too, and I have my stock wires, so that more or less proves the point. Of course, if you don't do it, you don't run the risk of screwing up and wrecking your electrical system.
man..
i read soooo many times about grounding..
i think im gonna do the big three..
right now,
1. grounding point to negative
2. negative to the thing under the resonator (what is the name???)
3. and from number 2 to the grounding infront of the engine....
any pic for the tranny grounding point?? (or is number 2 is tranny point? hehe)

wires
the wires are not really for your audio system even thought there is one ground for hondas and its with like 10 gauge wire
how could you lose by upgrading the wires ?
anyway dyno proven results are hard to argue
and the wire size is 4 gauge

I think 7th gens (at least mine), the big 3 becomes the big 4. Of course you have your traditional alternator to battery being 1 of them, but you have an additional ground. Usually, you would have a ground from the battery - to the body of your car, and another to the engine block. In my car, it goes from the battery - to the body, and from there it continues to the engine block or tranny or whatever it is (can't remember), and then back to the body just above the radiator.
Just follow where your factory grounds lead and replace them. With your alternator wire, don't replace it, just add a second wire leading directly to your battery. Make all wires the same size as the main power wire leading back to run your system.
Simple as that

If I had to guess, I would say the theory behind that would be that with upgrading the wires, you take some strain off the alternator, in turn your engine wouldn't have to push it as hard and you would free up more power to send to your wheels.
The problem with that theory is that it doesn't alleviate any strain on your alternator, it just lets everything flow better. If you want to gain HP via the electrical system, disconnect any unncessary electronics, like all the lights and all the sensors :P

I think it's better to just upgrade the factory grounds. Then you won't get any ground loops or other problems.
Run wires from battery to stock chassis ground, stock tranny, and stock thermostat. That's it.

however, can you help me with pics of where tranny and thermostat are located?
i read and read the DIY...however i'm still not sure where they are on our 7thgen...

I can take pics exactly. I only have those basic grounds now, because I'm afraid having more will add another problem to my already long list I'm trying to fix.

Mine goes from the battery terminal to a spot under my air cleaner ducting, and from there it continues to the engine. The other ground you need to do is the engine to above the radiator, this one is identifiable as it is a ground strap.
