Question system problem

i currently have:
jl audio 300/4 running fronts and rears
kenwood (piece of ****) running my subs

here is the problem:

every once in a while my system (speakers and subs) will just, bam, stop making sound. the head unit will still look like nothing is wrong (hence the eq still moving up and down) but no sound. the weird part is, when i turn the car off and then re start it the music will come right back on, good as new. this only happens once every couple of days

IDEA'S??????????????

check your wiring like ground wire, remote wire, etc.

Either that or your amp is overheating and the protection circuit kicks on.

could it be b/c i spliced into the remote wire from my small amp to the 300/4???? i don't know!

i will check the ground today but i don't think that is the prob.

the only reason i spliced into the remote wire is b/c i don't know what to do with two remote wires where would the second one go??

also ludlam what did you do with your "current" problem did you need a lower gauge? what did you do

also a side note:

it can't be overheating b/c i can immediately turn the car off and start up with no prob. if they overheated i would not be able to turn them right back on. they would either kick right back off or not turn on at all.

also the sound turns off from both the speakers and subs. both amps over heating at the same extact time? can't be!

...

Check each speaker ground, which may be turning off the 4 channel and then it turn's off the sub amp.

First, run a seperate remote wire from the headunit to the other amp, so you can pinpoint the problem a little more. You'll know what component is causing the problem...then go from there...but from the sound of it, I would think it's a speaker ground problem..

It's probably your remote wire. What I would do, is use a butconnector behind the HU and run TWO remote lines out of it (use a blue or yellow colored connector to make sure its big enough to have two lines coming out one end) or run a 12 guage wire right off the battery (with a fuse, just incase you short it somewhere ) to the trunk, then use a relay with your current remote line, and the 12v wire you just ran from the battery to make a more powerfull remote that wont get overdrawn for current.

your amps overheating... or popping coz you ain't got much juice pushing for your speakers! it happened to me before...

borrow a bigger amp and see how that goes first! but definitely buy a bigger amp!

i have some more info that might let you guys realize what it is. i figured out when ever the sound stops, both the amps power lights go off.

another thing is that this has happened to me is two seconds after i've turned on the car the music would play and then turn off. eliminating the poss. of the amp overheating. which i knew it wasn't that.

any more ideas

It's a remote wire issue then, or you are having a serious grounding problem (which I doubt, since your amps DO run most of the time). Rewire your remote like I suggested, that should solve your problem.
