Audio experts please HELP!!

Next weekend, I am going to buy Two (2) JL Audio w0 subwoofers, enclosed in a Powerwedge box with a Kenwood KAC-7285 Amplifier. Max 600W Power, mounted on the back of the box all for 240. These are three years old. This other guy is selling his 250/1 jl amp for 180. So I plan on putting the two jls with the jl amp and keeping that setup. Then selling the kenwood amp for $120.

Do you guys think this setup is better than with the kenwood amp? Are these subs gonna blow after a while since their old? What else do i need to buy after i have the amp and subs? How much more will i have to spend after this? I really dont know anything about car stereos and going with things that are expensive and sold at low used prices.

ANY advice and info is helpful. Thank you

the kenwood amps are trash compared to the jl audio's. plus, their rliability is better.

I wouldnt buy any subs that are 3 years old. IMO, buying used audio stuff like subs isnt the best thing to do.

but yea, i would go with the JL amp over kenwood

Either way, the amp doesn't need to be mounted on the box, that can cause the amp's internals to be excessivly vibrated and can be damaged.

Speakin of amp mounted to the box...... not a good idea. Thats makes everything much easier to steal.

If you gonna hook up a system make sure to mount the amp in the back of your backseat or something.... it'll be more of a pain in the *** to steal then if everythign was mounted to the box.

i decided to leave the 3 year old setup alone and not buy. The other guy with the jl amp wants 190 for it now. Im still thinking of buying it but need to find some 10" jl subs in box to go with it.

thats a 728s, btw, not 7285 if you want to get info on it.

but i had one and i'll save you the trouble. it iwas replaced by the 729, then the 7201 is the current model like it. it puts out 200W peak at 4 ohms per channel, 100RMS. the JL amp would give each sub 125W rms, 250 peak. kenwood amps aren't special, but they aren't bad either, just run of the mill. i bought it because it was cheap and does the job. btw, i bought mine for 100 with shipping, and that was about 1.5yrs ago, it's worth more like 50 bucks on ebay now, not the 120 you wanted.

as to the amp vibrating from mounting on the box, thats not gonna matter. a sub shakes everything mounted to the box or not. speakers can last a long time in proper weather conditions and if not abused. knowing who you buy used equipment from is key.

it's not bad. Personally, I would use a more powerful amp.
Maybe the JL 500/1 or something around that ball park

W3's want 250 watts EACH for optimum performance, so I would get a 500/1 not a 250/1 for that setup. As far as mounting an amp to the box, its not gonna damage it, amps are made to withstand vibrations. Everything in the trunk is gonna shake, and the box will probably shake the least.

your back deck will likely rattle. i've deadened and carpetted mine now and i still get some (though it might be my trunk lid that i hear now). reccommend getting some deadener for the back deck at least.

aside from wiring thats about all you'd really need for now.

Ok now that ive learned that the 250/1 wont power the 2 10w3's. Which one do i go with.
250/1(only gave power to 1 10w0) for 170 dollars or the 2 10w3's (3 months old) in prowedge box for 150. I checked out some 10w0s and sounded clean but didn't give off enough beat. I thought i got good prices for a good setup and now they dont match.
FInding AUDIO sucks! if anybody can put together a good setup or they know someone selling complete setup please post. Must be Jl subs though.

I got the 2 jl 10w3v2 and looking for an amp. Do you guys think this is a better setup with this earthquake amp.
His add:
Earthquake PHD2 2000watt amp it really puts out 2000watts its in excellent working condition used for a couple of months bought brand new paid $500 look at pics 4gauge ground/power terminals 8gauge speaker terminals. This amp powered 3 of my 12" earthquake DBX then it powered 2 15" earthquake Magmas very loud then 3 12" Audiobahn AW1200Q never overheated was always run at 2 ohms this amp was well taken care of im just starting my system all over again.

I offered him 200 and has accepted. Do you guys recommend this setup or keep looking elswhere for another amp. which one? will this one run my car battery down?
