what is the size of the stock speakers in a 02 civic coupe if everyone has to do some sort of modifying when they put in 6.5's???
On any web site i find it states that 6.5's are the stock size. Correct me if im wrong...............

That's right. Fronts are 6.5 inch, and some speakers require a spacer for it to fit.

The main reason you have to modify is that the stock speaker is attached to a bracket with metal prongs that snap into the door. When you take the speaker out, there's nothing for you to mount an aftermarket speaker. The second is magnet depth - the doors are fairly shallow, which require the usage of MDF baffles or spacers to accomodate them, and potentially windows might have a problem as well.

Yup 6.5 is correct, but be prepared to spend some time putting those suckers in.
