6X9's
Quick question.
I have alpine type r's 6X9's in my car. I have an opertunity to trade them in and get a pair of JL- VR690CXI. What should I do? What do you guys think? I'm only familiar with the alpines. Should I do it?

For the fronts i have no options. I already have alpine typre r in the front. One of the 6X9's blew, so he made me an offer for the JL's at no extra cost. Just want to know if they are comparable (which one is better). I cannot listen to the JL's because he doesn't have them on a board. Just wondering if anyone has listened to the typre r's and the jl's in our cars. Some opinions would help me alot to make a decision. I only have til Wednesday to make a choice. Just to let you know, I have type r's in the front, and 2 trpe r 12's in the back.
Thanks
Thanks
i would consider leaving nothing in the back!
two empty holes through the rear deck would let all that nice bass into the cabin.... like having the seats permanently folded down!
not to mention all teh accoustical benefits of having highs only from the front... music is recorded in stereo, not quadraphonic whatever!
the idea that more is better in a car has been pushed on us from the car companies, there are just too many potential benefits from not running rears at all to ignore the ideal chance right now!
especially in a car like yours, that has all the equipment needed to make up for a potential loss in volume or frequency response....
I still suggest considering ditching the rears

While we are on the subject, how do aftermarket 6x9's (in general) fit into a 7g civic?
I've heard that only a select few speakers fit, but looking at the speakers and the clearance makes me wonder otherwise...

well, in my car, i just torqued the 6x9 down and compressed the torsion bars. it affected trunk opening, but not in an adverse way.
others have had different experiences. at the time i was running green kappas.
so many potential problems running 6x9's..... so many benefits to taking them out..... so many people fooled by the car companies they they refuse to believe it can be done....
