system clipping like a ****, wtf?....
this week i noticed a problem with my system, at loud (not terribly loud) volume, my speakers and sub distort like hell and the sounds keeps cutting out, but the amps are not shutting off when the sound cuts.
i measured voltage at both amps while the sound cut, but the voltage didnt drop below 14volts, so its not that.
i'm running an eclipse 8053. volume maxes out at 80, and i believe its max unclipped is 76. i cant run it past 65 without it messing up.
here is the wierd part, each amp running by itself works fine, together is when the problem occurs. if i disconnect the rca's going to the sub amp, i can crank the volume upto 76 and the sound is loud and clear, no sound cutting out. same thing if i disconnect the rca's going to the speaker amp, the sub will pound at 76, and no cut out.
i tried replacing the deck with another, same results.
anyone have an idea? i posted this on another forum, but i'm trying to gather as much info as i can.
i'm running the following:
eclipse 8053 to audiocontrol DQT to diamond audio d7152 to diamond audio s600s, thats front stage, sub is diamond audio d5 1200.1 and 12" tdx in sealed enclosure. i also bypassed the DQT to rule that out.

what kind of amps are you using? I'd say that either your amps are drawing more current than your alternator can handle or the amps can't handle the high voltage output of that badass headunit... I'd say the lack of power is the most likely since you had the same result with another deck.

i'm using diamond audio amps, the D5 can accept 5 volts in, while the D7 can take 12 volts in.
question is, wouldnt the voltage going to the amps drop if it was a power issue? i can use a digital multimeter on the power and ground inputs on the amps while they are playing, and they will show 14volts + all day, even when the sound is cutting out.
also, the D5 is operational with 11-14.5volts and the D7 works with 10-16volts, i doubt the voltage can be dropping that low, dont you think?

well, a DMM isnt an "impact" sensor, its too slow to note dips like that
if I am ever stumped for stuff like this, i like to think about how my wiring looks like a cluster**** of wires anyways.
then i get in there, disconnect EVERYTHING, zero all teh amps, make the wiring neat again, ziptie everything, maybe build a new amp rack, reconnect the amps, and retune from scratch.
ill never know what did it, but at least most likely itll be fixed!

i'm gonna do the same next week, rip everything apart, clean everything up, and reinstall it, hopefully that cures it.
i already took my amps and sub out, on monday, gonna take out the back panels in my car, and then the wiring.
the only thing different from my system now and my system 2 months ago is the amp for the mids/highs, i had a D5 300.2 that made 75x2 and now i have a D7152 that does 150x2, can that D7 amp really draw that much more current than the 300.2?
