How to pull this panel off? (pic)

I was just reading a DIY on how to take my stereo out, and I am not sure on how to take this one panel off without wrecking it.... seems really hard to take off by hand, so I don't want to mess it up by pulling too hard...

Picture of the panel is here:

http://members.***.net/stuartk20/civic/4.jpg

and the full DIY (including an underside pic of said panel), is here:

Please help, thanks.

Where should I apply force though? At the front of the panel? At the back? In the area around the shifter?

Man i wish i had an 04 civic, i can't stand having the entire center console being unscrewed and pulled away just to get the HU out. The two bolts at the back and on the sides of the center console, people with 02's will know....the two bolts that are basically in the front of the back seat area of the car, i haven't had those screws bolted in for over a yr. Ok this whole front back side of back front rear stuff has even gotten myself confused...nevermind.

Heh Tom you dont need to take that all apart if your careful. 02's are jus as easy as 01's if you pop the cigertte lighter panel out careful and pull up and out.
