help with system

ok i read all the stickies but I am about to go outside and kick my car. from the fact that our suspension needs alterations in order to install shocks to my drivers seat that get's fixed but seems to keep on rocking.

I just want to imrpove my sound. Can i buy a head unit and speakers and replace the stock speakers with the newones and that's it. or do i need an amp? do i need to make alterations.

i would really appreciate input thanks a lot

Replacing the HU and factory speakers will give you better sound quality and added features. It depends what kind of things you want to do with your system.

If you want to have some bass, then a subwoofer with an amp to power it should give you that effect.

For installation, it depends on the size of your magnet on your aftermarket speakers. Some are larger/deeper than others so there is an issue with clearance. For the front speakers, I believe there need to be some alteration since the stock holes wouldn't accommidate many aftermarket speakers.

the thing is man, you dont HAVE to do anything.
I tell people to just replace one thing at a time, that way they can stop when theyre satisfied
unless theyre bitten by the bug
then theyre never satisfied

Thanks man I really appreciate your help. Any other suggestions? As far as speakers/brand/and amps are concerned?

I am looking for something that is clear crisp and has bass. Nothing that will shatter windows in a city a city block.

components (seperate woofer and tweeter) will need an amp to reach potential. more difficult (DIY) or expensive install. better sound.

coaxial speakers (2 or 3 way) are almost a bolt in. amp is good, but not neccesary. speakers by your feet, sound will come from there too

budget?

that'll get you some pretty darn nice components and amp, with money to install them nicely.

fronts- $200
amp- $150-200
rears- $50 if you want them. i'd keep stock for the bass if you aren't gonna run a sub
amp kit and speaker wire- under $50
install accessories and sound deadening- $50

that looks like a good budget for online buying.

what i am looking to do is the following

1. install hu in car
2. see if i am happy twith that, if not go with replacing stock speakers(but i have to see if i need an amp to power those speakers which i don't know)
3. then see if i need a sub and an amp

what i want to do is get better sound have it be clear and crisp. i don't want to show off i just want to enjoy
