Air Flap in trunk

Hey i was wondering how bad is it if you take out that air flap in the trunk and dynomat over the hole or just like tape the flap shut. i know its there to release pressure from when you slam the door and stuff so i just wanted to know how bad it is taking it out. i am getting a lot of dust and crap on that side of my trunk and on my box luckily i am recarpeting it all to match.

please give some imput

thanks guys

I took off my rear bumper (not necessary), cut it out with a rotozip from the inside, and f.glassed the hole shut. I glassed from the inside and outside and used one layer of ordinary fleece (like the kind used in pullovers). Then I fatmatted over it. I didn't notice having to close the door harder or anything.
