yes, its more than really possible... i've done it with a bunch of stock speakers, just for the hell of it. they're so cheap, might take maybe 10 minutes at 3/4-full volume... funny to watch too

Haha. Ludlam and his audio adventures...Anyway, stock speakers are actually expensive. For my mom's 92 accord, they were $52 each!!
I upgraded my speakers first and noticed a huge improvement. Sounded alot cleaner. Then I did deck, then new deck, then, well, there was no stopping.

i have the Alpine S-series in front and rear, and it made a huge difference. However, I have heard that almost any aftermarket HU makes an even bigger difference; im saving up for rims right now, or I'd buy a new HU.

not neccessarily Alpine's HU; the best out there, if you're going for pure sound quality, would be Nakamichi. It looks actually very close to the stock HU, but the CD player portion has 0.005 THD, and the internal 50wx4 (i think) amp has 0.05 THD (damn good, especially for an internal HU amp). It's what I'm saving up for, but it's $300, so...

yeah, a wall socket provides a 3400 rms 60 hz bass tone (audio signals are merely ac voltage)
i have a few videos of random audio destruction. 2 or 3 of stock speaker explosions and my favorite one:
my friend had a ollllld *** pioneer deck that would give him nothing but problems, but he could never afford to get a new one. when he finally did we recreated teh scene in office space where they destroy teh printer, but with a pioneer HU.

No brainer, get a HU first. It is the "brain" of your entire system. Just make sure you get a really good one (Alpine, Pioneer, Eclipse, etc)... And yes, blow the sheezy out of your stock speakers... Unless you plan on trading the car in later down the road, I suggest you keep them in storage which is what I'm doin'... Have fun!!

partsexpress.com sells a speaker protectant for $10 that makes your stock speakers weather-proof. Might want to get it if you're staying with paper.
