Jusst remember, "It takes money to ball." If you honestly think that the power acoustic brand will satisfy your craving for an audio/video experience...then by all means, go for it. (They're reputation isn't that bad, in fact I've only heard good things about them and I wouldn't mind buying their products)
But.......if you really want the best, start saving up your pennies..... or get ready to sell a kidney (besides, you only need one).

I probably wouldn't buy their head units - I have an Alpine - as many of the off branded units I've seen simply don't have the features I look for. Even the installer who helped me custom install my components said if the amp is working ok not to waste $$ on a new one.

my local shop has a show car that has power acoustic LCD monitors in it, has 2 right now, getting like 8 more (i know, i know, remember, its a "show car"). i've seen the quality, and they are good, if they sucked, the owner of the car would not have put them in, he's pretty **** about his car.
http://www.advantageaudio.net/install.htm - click on 2001 prelude on the left to see it, you can see the monitors in it.

stay away from power acoustic, they're just another china express brand now. Their story is kind of the same as rockford. Aparently they were good at one point or another but now they're best buy's entry level stuff!
p.s. they're the same as pyle.. proof:
"Pyle's" DVD player

http://www.poweracoustik.com/product...ers/index.html (check out the PADVD-130)
what happens is some company in china has s12 year old that build these things for 10 cents and hour then they ship them to the states where companies like power acoustic and pyle slap their names on them. wouldn't touch it with a 1000 foot long pole.

If he's on a tight budget I can empathize - the poweracoustik amp is the only component I have from my first aftermarket install in a 1991 Dodge Shadow which consisted of the following:
Pyramid cassette player with an auxiliary input - two sets of RCA outputs, I used the aux input for an external CD player
Pyle 5 1/4 component set for my fronts, some no name 5 x 7 speakers for my rears
Pyle 8" Powered tube subwoofer
It wasn't much then - but at the time I was grateful simply to have a "decent" sounding stereo.

Its not that i am on a budget...well i sort-a am being a college student but....i can save the flow.
here is the actual unit http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/POWPTID8400
It has more features than many i have seen and i ahve it offered to me for 730.00 shipped. It plays mp3, dvd, cdr and cdrw......thats pretty good. I understand that u pay for what u get but some of the upper headunits dont have an msrp of 2000. I would prefer to get an all in one like this b/c it takes up less room.
I also have to have mp3....since i got my mp3 deck it would be hard for me to go back....i mean **** i can burn 9 cds on one disk in 3 mins.....thats awesome! so i have to have that....and with that feature in it the range is very narrow.
Thanks for all the opinions....i esp liked the one about the show car.....notice all the nice orion stuff! Pimp install.
Thats where i am coming from....i think it is a decent deal for the unit. As for the rest of my set up....all infinity kappa around with a kappa perfect 12 and 2 xtant amps.....it sounds good! but prb upgrading to polk momo or type-r soon after gas struts go in the rear....i want my 6x9's back!
