SOB (size of box)

So i've got a bandpass box and i'm looking to switch to a sealed enclosure. The manufacturer recommends a box with an internal volume of .95 cu ft. I've found .88 cu ft. boxes at cheap prices and i'm wondering if I can get away with a box that is slightly smaller, or if I should just bite the bullet and get a custom box made. Does anybody know how a smaller box would affect the sound of the sub?

Your best bet would be to build one yourself, it's not that difficult and you can do it with a minimum of tools. If not, depending on the price difference, the premade box might be a viable solution. In attempt to make up for that lost volume, you can fill the box with polyfill, fiberglass, etc. You can increase the acoustic compliance, with an apparent volume increase by 15-25%.

Also, those cheaper boxes are usually made of Particle board. If possible, look for one made of MDF.

It's made of mdf, but how does polyfill make up for the lost volume?
