UPDATE
I took the sub up to a local audio shop and got the lowdown of what it is and all that ****. Its a 12w1, said its prolly about 5 years old. Also tested the ohm's at it rated at around 6 (he said it should have been either 4 or 8...). After testing it and checking it out, said it will work temp. but not too long. Said there is an internal problem of some sort and the voice coil is probably in the process of deteriorating or whatever.
SO...
I talked to him about a NEW system. Heres the prices he quoted me:
-12w3- $150
-500watt Memphis amp- $250
-box- $40
-amp wiring kit- $25
How does that sound? Im going to be getting my money back from the guy i bought the used one from. Hopefully then I will be buying the stuff listed above.

That doesn't seem too bad, but you might want to look around more, I think there's better things for hte price, although those are nice products. That's $465 right there. Does that include installation? It doesn't seem like you'd be up for installing yourself, so that might not be an option.

I have a couple friends that said they will do my installation. What would you recommend for a "better" product? Seems like JL has the best subs and Ive been told Memphis is an very good inexpensive amp.
I think I meant more of a better value. I just don't like some shops.. Like, it's easy for them to suggest stuff for you, but something else might be better for you. Like, what kind of music do you like? How much do you want to spend? What's the rest of your system consist of? What kind of box are they making, sealed, vented? Also, you might want to check into buying the parts online, since your friends are installing anyway, if you can get the parts cheaper, it's all good

Currently, the only audio upgrade I have is my head-unit (a Pioneer 6400) but plan on upgrading all the speakers in my next car.
Money is not an issue. I am all about doing things right the first time so I would rather wait longer and get the best available then to get someting cheap or not that great to start with, knowing I will need to replace or upgrade later.
