problem with pioneer headunit
Im having a weird problem with my Pioneer DEH6400 deck. Starting this morning, when i pressed a key (pressed the source key that time) the screen would just go black, then come back to normal. Pressed the button a few more times and it flashed back and forth and finally starting working.
Then later on today, did it again when i pressed the next button. Only did it once though.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Its not even a year old yet and this is the first problem i have had.

Check the wiring and the harness in the back, if its all good take that ish back to the store if its under 30 days. If more, get that fixed while its under warrenty before it gets worse.

Even if you dont have the keys, you just pull out the cig lighter piece, two screws are up their unscrew them, pull out ac wire clips, and their your headunit is accessible. A 2 mins job at most
that happened to my deh7500 or wutever its called, exact same thing happened to mine, it just turned off if i pressed any button or went over a lil bump or sumthin. it wasnt any plugs, i had stereo shop send it back in they replaced sumthin for free, but i had to pay for shipping.
happened about 11 months after i got mine too...kinda weird haha

What did shipping cost?
THey will fix your HU, not replace it with a new one. In most cases it gets sent to a 3rd party radio repair company such as United Radio. Shipping is usually like $15, but should be covered by your warranty, or local shop if you have a good relationship with them.
yea they just fixed it and sent it back. i paid 10, but they also gave me a new wiring harness thing cuz the old one was a little loose and wasnt secure enough, and they put in a loaner deck and switched them.
Yea my first thought would have been the faceplate not making good connection with the deck. Other than that it could be internal, sometimes things go bad.
BTW Big, on the majority of the 7th gen civics the deck is secured with screws not just a cage. Therefore you can't just slip in they keys and slide it out, because the cage is for universal applications. That is why you have to move the center console back and take the cigarette lighter mount off to get to 2 screws up under the dash, then pull the entire moulding off to get to the back of the deck.
