the yellow top and the red top have be argued about befor, pretty much a redtop is for a start up battery... and a yellow if for a secondary... i just wanna replace my start up... and there is a little diffrence between the two

idk, but i think that putting an alternator in our cars is a PITA.....but i am gonna get a red top and 1 or 2 caps for my set-up and i will be running about 1,500 watts.

the battery will be about 100 bux
alternator a lot more (i really don't even know, but probably around 300 or more installed)
cap about 50-100 bux
throwing money at this problem usually works. do the battery and if you aren't happy think about the alternator.

have you upgraded your factory power and grounds? like the power going from the battery to your alt, and whatever else there is (i know someone knows what i'm talking about). i did it, and it seemed to help, only when i have my system at its loudest to i get headlight dimming, all i have to do is turn the system down one notch on the volume and its gone.
i'm running probably over 1500 watts, still using the factory battery and alt. after upgrading the factory power and grounds, get a battery, and then alt, after that, you should be set, i doubt you would need a cap.

dont touch a cap...
get a red top, then if that doesnt help, upgrade your stock grounds some, then, if that doesnt work, get a second battery, could be a red, could be a yellow, i could get into the advantages and disadvantages of both if youd like, then if that doesnt work, its time to email teh people over at mralternator.com
our stock alternators can take a SERIOUS beating. both me and whiterabbit have run up to and over 2k rms on them with just an upgraded battery and it still works fine

when i was having that problem, i thought upgrading the alternator would be the solution but i was wrong. the high output alternator did nothing. all of my problems were solved when i put the optima battery in. stay away from the cap, it just acts as a bandaid. get the battery and check your grounds, you'll be satisfied.

Not that much at all...all you really need is a tie-down that is about an inch or two longer. Just make sure you measure the battery before you install it to make sure it will fit.
