of this idea?
So I have my set of Infinty 6.1 components in the kickpanels. The midbass/midrange sound PERFECT to me, but for some reason the highs just don't get loud. I have the tweeters set at +5 dbs on the passive x-over, and it just does get loud like my quarts used to get...and can I say that the Perct tweeter is a good sounding speaker, but it is the most sibilant tweeter I have EVEr heard!!
Anywayz, this is what I am thinking of doing...and I wanted to get some of your advice on what would be a good way to initially set my speakers...or am i just wasting my time by doing this:
-I am going to leave my Perfect set in the kicks, and I was think about putting just my MBQ premium tweeter back in the sail panel. I will use the quart x-over in bi-wire mode and just hook up the Quart tweeter input and output.
FYI: My amp is stable to 2 ohms so I will split the signal before the crossover and after the amp. The perfects are 4 ohms, and the Quart tweets are 6 ohms (and I don't know if the crossover would change that, but that doesn't maater to much anyway).
FYI #2: The Perfect comps are crossed over at 2500hrts at 24 dbs, and the quart tweet is also crossed over at 2500hrtz, but at 12 dbs per octave.
Ok, so all that is laid out...IYO would this be a big waste of time to do this?
Should I:
a) Leave the perfect tweet at +5 dbs and put the quart tweet in the sail panels at -6 dbs?
b) turn the perfect tweeter down to either 0 dbs or -4 dbs and have the quart tweet at a high setting as if it was the main tweeter.
c) shut off the perfect tweeter completely and just use the Quart tweeter on the quart crossover?
or
d) none of the above ._________________________________________________
thx

what kind of power are you running to these bad boys? I am assuming your using a 4 channel (i think thats what i remember seeing
).
sometimes crossovers just arent to YOUR taste, or the cross over is Great but your speakers just dont quite give off the right frequincys for YOUR ear, or the crossover for the midbass is great and the crossover point for the tweets isnt all that great. Thats why me personally im not a huge fan of component sets, i prefer to mix things for example....... I love polk momos midbass 6 1/2, but the tweets just arent brite enough for me, why because of the crossover, i put them directly to the amp, with the gain very low, and was able to really ajust the frequincy and volume how I wanted it, not how the crossover has it set.
MY SUGGESTION:
I would suggest if you have 2 extra channels on your 4 channel, put the mbs in the sail, and power them directly to the amp. If you dont have any extra channels, get a small 50x2 rms 2 channel amp for them, then you could always upgrade to a more powerful tweet or even use a componet in the rear.

Ok, just to clarify...I have a a 2-channel JBL PX600.2. It is rated at 150 x 2 at 4 ohms and 300 x 2 at 2 ohms.
The Perfect component set is 4 ohms, and the tweeter says it is 6 ohms (but I dunno if the x-over changes that).
So basically I would split the output of each channel to two different crossovers. Split to Perfect x-over and to the Quart x-over. I don't think it will run below 2 ohms if the comps are 4 ohms and the tweets are 6 ohms (or maybe 4).
The good thing about this is that the quart x-over has a lot of adjustability (with jumpers). Man, after looking online it is hard to figure out. The only problem that I can see is the crossover slope diffefernce of the two x-overs (the quart is 12 dbs, and the Perfect is 24 dbs).
It is tough because when I was initially auditioning speakers I loved the Quarts highs, and loved the Perfects midrange...if I could get them to match, it would be awesome.
So I guess I can try one of two things first: Pefect all the way up and Quart all the way down, or visa-versa.
Damn, I wonder if my tweets are outta phase because everywhere I see online people say the perfects are too bright...but I can barely hear them turned all the way up...maybe I am going deaf

If I use the inline crossover that came with the stock tweets, does any one know what the crossover point/slope is for that? How many ohms was the stock tweeter?
Thx
