I'm attempting to build a large ported box for my 12L7. I was thinking something like 3.5 ft^3 with a fairly low tune like 34hz. I got WinISD and came up with some numbers and used other online calcs to get the dimensions right. This is my first attempt at building my own box and I know squat about literally 'making' it. I know the factors of making them but never even had a wood shop class to know how to put it together. Basically my questions are:
1) Is 3.4cuft with a tune of 34hz alright for the sub, giving it 710wrms off a kx600.1 and a 25hz sub-sonic filter? I can go bigger if possible, I want good SQ with some nicer SPL.
2) When I plugged the numbers into WinISD and asked for a 3" x 13.75" port it came up with a 22.86" port length and cross area of 41.25 in^2 sound right to you? And what is the cross section really, the area between the side of the box and the length of the port?
3) The site that did the calculations for the dimensions of my box is asking for the 'port diameter', how exactly do you find the diameter of a rectangle?
I guess thats about it, can someone help a boomer out? Thanks.

put your subsonic at the freq your port is tuned to. i used trial and error and found and equal round port would be 3.625 inches in diameter.
thats a long port...might wanna drop the port area down to 36 in sq and shorten that port up..just keep an eye on vent velocity
