still have problems with antenna range

Question still have problems with antenna range

just had a kenwood mpv 622, with an amp, kenwood echelon keg, and new speakers... at first i had no am reception.. that was fixed by the gents here in the fourms.... i connected the power for the antenna... now i get am... its ok but then again its am.. my fm sucks.... either will not get a station such as q101... but b96 fades.... any sugesstions... all is connected and tied right... i really dont care about the tuner.. but still bugs me when things do not work..

I feel you man...if it makes you feel any better, I had a pioneer in my car for a few days and the AM reception was worse then with my Kenwood.

You can always go back to stock

you didn't mess with anything in the car did you? like the rear pillars next to the glass?
i didn't have any radio reception, and when i did, it was horrible, turns out, the wire connected to the antenna located in the rear pillar by the rear glass was disconnected.
just a thought, but it doesn't really sound like your problem.

Yeah, there are a few places where the antenna can come loose...back window, right kick panel, and behind the HU. These are the first and easiest things to check.

2 months later.....straight out of the dealer lot..bad reception...ill chk that stuff...thx fonto..and have you checked the crtchfield faq's? the say some things for bad am recept

just installed my panasonic hu, no problems! the plug felt loose in the old civic hu, maybe that was it. and no comments on panasonic please, ive heard all bad things but took a chance since it had really good specs, and so far im very pleased with the results...just gotta put my new speakers in tonite =)

Yep, I have a Kenwook KDC-v7022 and my FM sucks, good thing I have Sirius, so I don't listen to it much.

I had the place that installed it take a look at it again... since for some reason there is a ground issues with the front speakers... but a ground loop isolator fixed that.. Thank god for the keg..
