mine is being relocated next to the e-brake. seems like the easiest move to me, plus, it will then allow my stock loaction to accept a 5.6 inch screen.

I would go e-brake. Eventually, when i get my video system, im puttin my dvd player there. Theres already a slot and everything; plus lots of extra room down below.

how would you secure it next to the ebrake and get the necessary wiring there and all? I've never understood how you can relocate a cd player.

just extend all the wires...if you've ever taken your CD player out, all thats holding it in are a few screws, which you can easily replicate on the center console next to the e-brake. And on the stock HU, there is simply a clip with whole bunch of wires, and one separate antenna wire. You just extend all these wires, and its pretty easy to get them from the stock HU location down into the center. Theres nothing special about the stock location of the CD player; you just make the wires go from there to the new location; thats all that the HU needs.

i used to have mine by the E-brake in a carbon panel.

I loved it there, I could navigate entirely by feel, eyes never left the road, cds inserted right there by feel as well, worked wonderfully well.

I took it to SQ competition and promptly lost points because it was not "ergonomic". The judge said if i ever have to look at it, i have to take my eyes off the road, and lost 3 points.

now my radio is where the cig lighter is, and it was much much more difficult to install it there. getting the panel to fit back in alone makes it too much work to possibly worth it.

and now I can only fit a can of soda in the drink holder. nothing bigger.

I had better get my 3 points back for radio ergonomics.....

my nakamichi deck said something though about not mounting it at an angle higher than like 30 degrees or something. So would it not work by the ebrake since it would be 90 degrees???

see thats where i wanted mine, where the cig lighter is, but isn't it too deep and would hit the metal brackets?

its just barely deep enough, thats what makes putting it there kind of a pain. I worked around the metal bracket, i know other guys in here just cut it out.

I personally don't like the carbon fiber, no offense or anything, I've just never been a fan of carbon fiber in general. Is there a way to make that so it looks nice but out of other materials? And how did you do that anyways? I wouldn't even know where to begin.

just paint it. its not in my car anymore, i was going for the whole carbon interior, but slowly I phased stuff out. like those ghetto kicks! those went years ago.

as far as im concerned, building my own panel was far far easier than cutting the ebrake mounts. I simply took an 8th inch high quality ply board and sanded it till it was the right contour, and cut the appropriate holes.

and if I spraypainted that carbon panel, it would look like any other spraypainted fiberglass.
