Really Confused
Narrowed down my choices of a new HU to :
Pioneer DEH 7500MP $500 CDN all taxes in and installed (no remote, open box)
Pioneer DEH 750MP $500 CDN all taxes in and installed
Alpine CDA 9813
Alpine CDA 9815 $600 CDN all taxes in and installed
Kenwood 822 $500 CDN plus taxes and installation
Eclipse CD4303 $600 CDN installed
I like the Eclipse, but my concern is that I will not be able to add DVD capabilities after b/c there is no AUX input. I have heard mixed reviews about using a FM modulator. Am I better of sticking to the Pioneers and Alpines if I want DVD as an option, or should I bite the bullet and go for the Eclipse.?
All prices are Canadian, divide by 1.35 to get US equivulent and taxes up here are 15%. Any Toronto or GTA people got hookups?

is the eclipse cd4303 something only for canada? because i dont see it on the website, unless you meant the cd3403.
from those listed, i prefer the alpine cda 9815, i think it has the best features for the price. having an aux input is nice, and a lot better than using fm modulation. i would stick with something that has aux input.

Eclipse is probably the best of the bunch, followed by alpine. Pioneer is great if it has OEL, and sq is okay as well. Don't get the kenwood--their product quality is going down lately.

CD3413 is a nice unit, but feature and spec wise, it doesn't add upto the alpine 9815, check out the specs on both, you'll see.
if it were one of the eclipses that had the 5volt preout or better, then i'd choose it.
pioneer is great also, the 750mp would be my next choice after the 9815.

Eclipse-nice looking, best all around deck.
Alpine-bad display(segmented), but very good sound
Pioneer-I have one. Oel display, has the most tuning features
Kenwood-not many features, bad build quality.
It all depends on which aspects are important. I wanted a flashy deck that matched my indiglo gauges, so I chose pioneer. It also has tons of user options to adjust sound. If they didn't make the deck I got, I would have gone with eclipse.

On flat EQ settings, all those will sound the same. The only differences in sound are from various settings on the EQ's and timing correcting etc. I personally would go with the Alpine 9815, good quality product, easy to use and good features for your money.

so i calculated out 600 canadian divided by 1.35 and i got $444. That model eclipse deck is $444 dollars!?!? The prices in canada must be much higher than they are here, i got the 8443 which is the next one down from top of the line for $400 USD. it RETAILS here in the states for $420, how come the 3413 costs so much up there. The 8443 that i have has aux inputs......
if you can't get the eclipse for a reasonable price then i'd definitely say go with alpine 9815 or 9813, or drive to the states depending how far you are and get one here, therefor i guess the alpine is the best choice.

The higher end eclipse decks can get expensive. I've seen a lower model for a couple hundred that plays mp3. It really depends on which features you are looking for in a deck. Each will have something that is unique to that brand. Just look up the specs and pics and decide.
