Hatchback Sub Questions

Hey guys, I want to put 1 sub in my car... but I dont want just a little sub that pushs a little, i want 1 monster... I got told to put a JL W7 in there, but then i heard that the w7's sound like rubber... Then I thought ECLIPSE... but I dont know much about Eclipses... I listen to alot of different things so i need a system that can handle the lows of rap, but the highs of some of the rock i listen to.. so if you can suggest some products that can help me do this so i can out do the little punks at school, id love to show thoes $*(%^ up but yea...

Ive thought about a setup, and i want a nice 12", 1 amp for the sub, 1 amp for my front and rear speakers... i got 150 pioneers in the front and 220 in the back... so if you can tell if i need to replace em or what, i also have a alpine CDA-9811 headunit... so now ya know what im working with... so HELP!! :-D

How much did you want to spend?
So you're looking for 1 sub, 2 amps, 4 channel for the highs and one for the sub?

IDMAX, Eclipse titanium or aluminum for a budget, DD audio, soundstream, JL, kicker L7, rockford power hx2 are all ones to look at.

depends on your budget and how clean you want it.

I say the Kicker L712. It is a bit expensive, but is loud as hell! I would stay away from JL, unless you really just want to pay more for your stuff. However, the JLw7 is a very clean sub.

if i knew it'd fit, i'd reccommend a Virtual Technologies Hammer Pro 12 in one of their (VT's) ported enclosures. with a hifonics gen XX Zeus amp running at 4 ohms (1100 watts) and a hifonics gen xx Jupiter 4 channel. 0/1 or 2 ga. wiring kit with distro blocks. and RCA's. should run you under 1000. the sub i know is 199.99 plus 99.99 for box. and i believe that the zeus amp is around 259, and the jupiter around 219. the wires can run anywhere from 40 to 75, depending on how you buy it (cheaper to buy off a roll as opposed to a kit). i have a dealer hookup so i can get my stuff a little cheaper, except the VT stuff. i go manufacturer direct on that stuff.

another setup would be:

Amp: Hifonics Poseidon 5 channel amp (75X4 Rms 4 ohms + 300X1 D-Class 4 ohms) around $400 (if you can find one)
Sub: JL Audio 12W6v2 around $330 (possibly cheaper on e-bay)
Box: around $70 (cheaper to build your own to JL's Specs, provided you have knowledge of building boxes)
Wiring: 4 ga kit around $60 (cheaper to buy off roll, probably 45-50 bucks off roll with rca's)
*with the HiFonics Poseidon you only need one amp for both insides and subs (it provides a 4 channel plus a d-class mono)

e12a?
The e12a is made by elemental sesigns and is high quality. It is in the same type class as the idmax, xxx, etc. It is $279 on their site which is really a good price.
Check em out. http://www.edesignaudio.com/

They are also the only authorized dealers of avionnix amps

Re: Hatchback Sub Questions

Man, you don't like the way a W7 sounds??!!! That is almost sacrelidge (sp)!!!! Anywayz, to each there own. You should give the IDMax a listen...a very good sub that can be bought for less then $350 from an authorized dealer . You can prolly also get them to price match a another sight like Woofersetc.com to get a lower price.

When I have heard the IDMax I have been very impressed...and I think of all the "super subs" from mainstream manufacturers it has the best price to perfomance ratio.

Most def, the W7...if price wasn't the issue. Seeing how you could buy two 12"IDMaxes for less then the price of one 12" 12W7...I would go for the IDMax...performance at a resonable cost from a well respected company
