gonna be hooked to a hifonics brutus bx1000d. 1000rms at 1 ohm. Which combination will give me the best sq and spl in a sealed enclosure built to the subs's specs? they will all be runnin at 1 ohm at 1000 rms. i am also going to put em in the trunk floor so it will be up firing. a few months ago i was set on all alpine because i wanted name brand but then i heard of all these not so well known companies that sound alot better for about the same price. I thought it would be cool when someone has all this name brand stuff and all and i got an ed and hifonics that they never heard of and blow their subs away any other options you can think of that will run at one ohm and i can get for a total cost on the subs for about $250 on ebay?

If i were you i would get the adire lab shiva subs. They are only about $125 each, brand new. Its a dual 8ohm sub, so im not 100% sure on what your wiring options are. I called maxxsoincs on thursday, and they said that the values on the brutus are NOT rms values. So the BX1000 will NOT give u 1000w rms @ 1ohm. Plus at one ohm the distortion goes way up, the amp runs really hot, and clipping way occur. Just because the amp has listed that it can run at 1000w, that doesnt mean its stable at that. I personally would run the amp at 4 ohm, it would be cleaner and the amp will run cooler. The subs are able to handle 650w rms. So i would say that two of those in a properly tuned box would sound just as good or better than jl 12w6. Another good choice would be the alpine type r in the compound reflex ported box. The box is properly tuned to acheive high spl level, so in a way thats easier, sub is already properly installed and box is made. I have not heard it but from what people have said, i have nothing but good things. Btw, did you already buy the amp, If you didnt I think its worth it dish out the little extra money and get the BX1500D.

i went on ebay and bought the amp, the specs on ebay was wrong, but i then checked hifonics website and the amp is rated atr 1000rms at 1 ohm. i plan on running at one ohm. i am not worried about it overheating because i am going to have a 2 fan cooling system on it(one blowing air in on one side of it and one blowing out on the other side of it. i have heard that even at 1000 rms they are underrated, i have heard this from people whou have actually tested it. i dont want the shiva cause it dont look good lol. as i mentioned, i am putting it in a custom floor trunk so the pre made alpine box is out of the question. basiccally all i want to know is if the 1 e12a or the 2 e12k will sound better than the 2 12" type r's

im sorry you bought the amplifier, but if you are looking for the greatest potential you can get from that amplifier, I would consider the 12A over the others.

whats wrong with it. y are u sorry i bought. i posted a thread and everyone said the bx100d would be a better choice than the mtx 801d, kicker 600.1, jbl 1200.1, or the alpine m500.

itll sound about the same as the jbl1200.1, but less power. my vote is still definitely for the single 12A.

another choice in that range would be the IDmax, but it wouldnt have the same SPL capabilities as that A would.

So the a will be better than the 2 12" type r's? If i sell the hifonics, what would be better to ppower this sub? I will be putting it in the box on ed's website(1.5 cubic feet slot ported to 26hz). How about the mtx 801d? im lookin for an amp aroung the $250 range on ebay.

does hifonics even make that amp (brutus)anymore? if you like hifonics though, you could try either the Zeus or the Chaos from their new line (Generation XX). the chaos can make up to 1200X1 RMS at 2 ohms. and the zeus can make up to 1600X1 RMS at 2 ohms. either are good amps, and should be under that budget.

i was looking at the sounddomain forum and ed's site and i didn't see any complaints about the avionix 800.2. And it is pretty cheap. DO any of you have it. GOt any opinions on it?

hes gonna be wanting around a killowatt. only amplifiers I know around that range are the jbl and the brutus. earthquake might make one, i dont know what the D1 is sellign for nowadays.

if you dont mind buying used, id consider checkign out the audioforums, people are always selling barely used equipment for rock bottom prices, and whos gonna take better care of equipment, a stereo loving audiophile, or some enthusiast hocking his stuff on ebay?

COrrect me if im wrong but do i need a 2 channel amp? IThe e12a is only 2+2 ohm dvc. SO i can only wire to a mono amp at 4 or 1 ohm? So the most efficient way would be to bridge on a 2 ch. amp like the 800.2 right?

or get a mono amp that is 1 ohm stable. either works. advantage to mono amp is usually the controls it has on it (more catered to using a subwoofer off of it) and more efficient
