Got a new amp....now I just gotta fix it.

A friend of mine offered to sell me an amp he bought, but it's fried. It was only $10, and I knew it wasn't working, but he was pretty vague about what was wrong with it. He just said "the channels are fried." I know I could open it up and fix it, but I'm not exactly sure where to start. The amp comes on, so it isn't the fuse, but there's no sound at all...any ideas?

ZSKCivic01 is an unknown quantity at this point
You probably have tried transistors. I have a HiFonics 2-ch ZX6000 powering my XR comp set and almost a year ago, it started smoking. While it was doing this, the amp still kept playing the music. I opened it up and one of the transistors was fried, but it really had no affect on the amplifier. The people at hifonics said it was part of a series of transistors for one of the channels. He said if I didn't get it fixed soon, the rest of them would go, but so far my amplifier still works like new. Im guessing that it is a transistor or something, open it up and look at any chared parts on the board near the transistors and see if they look like they have blown. If thats the case, all you have to do is buy some new ones and solder them in place.
