Okay first off I want you guys to know that I don't want a new head unit and I'm stubborn so I won't get a new head unit ever!!!!!
Anyway, I just bought a sub tube with built in amp from target for $45 It's a 200 watt system or whatever.
Okay I know how to do all the power wiring and all..... I'm just confused about the signal wiring.
Am I correct when I say our stock head units do not have separate output jacks?
If so, do I just splice the output from the stock system to go to my sub?
Would I need to splice it near the head unit or can I splice it off of one of my speakers in the trunk?
Would that be a bad thing? Would it be noticable?
And what is the color of the signal wire that I need to splice from anyway? And do I need some special adaptor to do it?
Okay thanks for informing me, the n00b.

They are these little clippable things.....
For frayed ends of wires.
this is an example of such a tube....

For that, just splice it from one of the speakers in the rear deck. RCAs are cleaner, but since it doens't have RCA inputs, nor do you have an aftermarket headunit, it should sound alright, give it a try

Thanks to all the people that posted HELPFUL comments and didn't put down my effort! =D
My sub tube sounds great. A little bit more kick is all I wanted.
It was funny... when I was installing the sub and splicing the wires... I was like.... which one is positive? I saw the black and blue wire and I thought that black always means negative so I went with that and I came out alright. Now all I gotta do is hide all those hideous wires that are snaking through my car, and mount the subwoofer switch somewhere.....

Congrats on getting it working.... about being stubborn and switching from the stock headunit.... hehe. I used to be EXACTLY like you, I had several reasons for keeping the stock headunit and refusing to switch. I've got 2 amps a sub and new speakers all around and I'm still on the stock head unit. I've had that setup for about a year, and its been alright. But you need to hear a high end stereo with a great headunit.... then you'll change. I finally heard a friends setup that was kind of similar to mine, a little better, but he also has an eclipse headunit and it just sounds amazing. It gave me some insight into what my system COULD be. So I have a nakamichi headunit on its way as we speak, and an alarm is getting installed on monday and its putting all of my reasons for keeping the stock unit to rest. Some day you'll change your mind too....
Congrats again on getting the bass tube working...reminds me exactly of me and how I started!
