Question about Tri-Way output
Question about Tri-Way output
I have already changed out my stock front speakers for Pioneer 3-ways, and I've added a sub and a 4-channel US Acoustics amp. The amp runs the fronts on channels 1 and 2, and the sub on bridged channels 3 and 4. I was going to run the stock rear speakers from the head unit, but I decided that it sounded better with just the fronts and sub for now.
I bought another set of Pioneers for the rear deck, but before I tackle that install, I wanted to decide how to power them:
My first choice is to get another US Acoustics amp (either mono or 2-channel, bridged) and use it to power the sub. That would free up channels 3 and 4 of the 4-channel amp to power the new rear speakers.
-or-
I could run the fronts and sub on (bridged) channels 1 and 2, using a Tri-Way (100Hz) crossover I got from Crutchfield a while back and run the new rears off channels 3 and 4.
My question (finally!) is: if the amp's bridged output is 160 watts/channel RMS, how is the power distributed among the 3 speakers using the Tri-Way crossover?

You don't want to bridge or crossover your front speakers with your subs, you would have no high end sound up front and thats where you want it. Personally I think rear fill sicks. If you just get a good set of speakers up front like a component set and it will sound great.
I wouldn't power the rears. Use deck power. Even then you will be surprised how loud they are. Besides it will mess w/ the imaging if the rears are very loud at all.
Besides trying the rears w/o an amp costs nothing. If then you think you need more buy an amp afterwards. This is better than buying an amp and then realising you don't need it.
