How to mount an amp?
I was interested in putting an amp in my car.....Preferrably under the passenger seat.
How do I mount it? I'm scared to drill into the floor of the car, I don't want to hit anything. How is it done?

Under the seats is really a bad spot, you have the problem of passengers kicking it, and in NY, snow, sand, lots of moisture....
Trunk is a much better spot. You could get creative and put it on the back of the front seats, but since this is your first install thats probably beyond your skill set.

Where would you suggest I mount it? I frequently pack my trunk COMPLETELY FULL and I don't want it to catch fire/overheat/etc. Thanks!
Edit: I took a look at this thread , but I'm curious if the amp would overheat in a full trunk. Maybe I could rig a giant switch to turn the amp off and use the stock speaker wires whenever thr trunk is full (not bloody likely).
Other than the mounting, I have concerns with getting power to the amp. How do I get the wire to the battery? Will the neato little battery cover still fit? How do I wire the fuse? I'm a n00b.

Look at my pics, I have never had a problem w/ mine. When I go to visit my parents the back seats and truck are always packed full, so the seats are up. Its about a 4 hr ride ....
I keep the seats up 75% of the time anyway. I put them up whenever I lock the car, and generally forget to put them back down.

If you have never done anything like this before, then I would suggest going to a shop and having everything installed. If you are still intent on doing it yourself, check the DIY section, and this forum. There is tons of information to be found with a little searching!
And you would also have to make sure it's very very secure...dont want to hit a big bump somewhere and have it come crashing down. It would be relatively easy to do though...just have to take the torsion bars out, lagbolt some MDF to the crossmembers on the underside of the rear deck, run wires, and attach the amp with a bolt and nut combination...not a screw.

What do the torsion bars do, and what happens if I take them out? Any ideas where else I can mount the amp without having it getting in the way? Back of the seat is a no-go because I constantly fold them down.

Make a board for the side of the trunk, carpet it, and mount it there... It will be out of the way and won't have a heat issue...
