/////Alpine MRP-M350?

i am planning on getting the Alpine MRP-M350 and want to hook up the Alpine SWR-1221D sub to it. The sub is a 2ohm sub and the amp can power at 350w RMS x 1 @ 2ohms or 200w RMS x 1 @ 4ohms. will this work? and will i get the 300w RMS out of the sub? or will i have to buy two 4ohm subs? i'm cunfused somebody PLEASE help! thanks!

I just bought the same amp from crutchfield. It arrives tomorrow.

Anyway it will work fine. There are two ways to wire a dual 2 ohm speaker.

Parallel gives 1 ohm = bad, fry the amp
Series gives 4 ohms = good, 200 rms, 400 max.

It won't be the max the speaker can handle but it will be more than enough to make that 12" bark very loud. You'll should be more than happy.

Oh, and a 4 ohm DVC would give you exactly 2 ohms in parallel.

That probably would have been my choice. But I think the real world difference is probably like 3db ......

so would i get more power if i hooked up two Alpine SWR-1241d's? and run that at 2ohm? cuz then it said on the site i will get 350w RMS. how would i hook up 2 speakers to a 1 channel amp anyways. i am very confused. i know how to install the amp and everything i just really don't get the technical things like ohms, Hz and stuff....

you would get the most power with either 2 SWR-1221D or 1 SWR-1241D

help for wiring:

also go here to read about wiring, and what ohm load the amp will see for various setups

Can you tell me how you would wire one sub parallel, because I was under the impression that you needed 2 subs to do that?

OHHHH. i think i get it now. it would be strongest if i get TWO SWR-1221D's with the MRP-M350 because they are 2ohm stable and the amp puts out higher wats in 2ohm and i need TWO subs to run 2ohm. correct? i hope thats correct. oh, cool, i'm kinda getting this crap now. also, to run the strongest i need to run PARALLEL wiring right? meaning, instead of having one wire coming out of the negative or positive port i will have two? i hope i'm right cuz i'm gonna be pissed lol. thanks DoubleDeuce2k2!!! tell me if i'm right though, ok? and can you also maybe point something out or give me any suggestions that might help me further?

youre right on the combination of subs, although for a pair of type r's id run a m500, not a 350...

oh yeah! one more thing. when it says i'll be making 350w RMS that means 350 out of both sub together? will that be loud enough? or will it filter out cuz i'm using 2 subs? thanks....

You need to learn some basic wiring my friend.

350 rms / 700 max @ 2 ohms
200 rms / 400 max @ 4 ohms

So whatever the wiring ends up at, you take that power and it is split among all the speakers.

With one DVC 2 ohm
* 4 ohm load in series (2+2)
* 200rms / 400 max
With one DVC 4 ohm
* 2 ohm load in parallel (4/2)
* 350rms / 700max
With two DVC 2 ohm
* 2 ohm load (DVC in series, speakers in parallel) ( 2+2 / 2)
* 350rms / 700max
* 175rms per speaker / 350 max per speaker
With two DVC 4 ohm
* 4 ohm load (DVC in parallel, speakers in series) (4/2 + 4/2)
* 200rms / 400 max
* 100rms per speaker / 200 max per speaker

You make your choice on what configuration you want. Basically if its one 12", get the DVC 4 ohm version. If its two 12's, then get the DVC 2 ohm version.
