i was in my "huge ported box stage with inexpensive woofers trying to get loud" phase...couldnt really tell you what "sounded" better.

damn...thats pretty cheap...if it was the all black cone its cause it is last years model. i have seen the he2 12 do 1" excursion each way with no audible noise (20hz tone free air with 400 watts to it) the 350z demo car uses he2s also...they are awesome for the price.

i dumped my 15w3d4s because at my resonant frequency (when i was competing) the impedance was at like 15 ohms....the stories of people putting a ton of power to them and not blowing are true because of the wicked impedance curve of the woofer. i was only getting like 35v AC outta my amps that were capable of 70+V

How is an HE2 compared to an HX2? Sound clarity wise

its only 100 watts extra power at rms and an extra 200 extra peak....they going to sound much different?

i have never had those subs in anythign but a box for spl. i had the he2 15's in 12 cubic feet with 160 square inches of port tuned at 48hz and a single hx2 12 in 3.8 cubic feet with 60 inches of port tuned to 44. i also had the 12 in 4.75 with 100 inches of port tuned to 50hz. (did a 150.0 with a single 12) they all go boom very well. honestly..the sound quality you want will come from box design. you want loud, go ported tuned somewhat high...you want flat response...build a sealed box witha q of .707. you want a little of both, use a ported box but tuned low (30-35hz region)
