Well it looks like I blew out one of my front speakers.
Guess my stock speakers can't handle anymore Radiohead! What suggestions do you guys have for replacements. Not looking to go all out on a system, just want some quality speakers.
www.sounddomain.com www.crutchfield.com see what prices there are, then go to local places hear em, then find the best price, probably ebay!
Boston Acoustics makes excellent coaxial speakers. Look for RX57's or RX67's (models).
MB Quart makes a decent coax, as does JL Audio. Take a listen to those brands, and anything else local shops may have. Then decide what you like best, and buy that.
Also, I assume you are running this off the stock radio with no amp?

Stock radio w/o an extrenal amp for now, in the future I will upgrade the reciver and rear speakers. I don't want one of those shitty all bass/rap systems that EVERYBODY has, those just get on my nerves. I want a sound system focused more on a clear sound at higher volume levels, not body shaking bass. I might add in a small 8" sub to help the bass a little. As far as a budget right now for the front speakers only, I have about $50 to $100 to spend, the less the better. Rgiht now the sound system is not on the top of my list of things to do to the car, brake pads and TEIN coilovers are. The rest I will add on later, I just need to replace the fronts now because the sound is shitty and annoying, and I figure I might as well get something good now. Thanks for all your help guys, keep the sugestions comming if ya have more.
are you willing to install them yourself? if not, go to circuit city/bestbuy and buy the the cheapest pioneer speakers they'll install for free. it sounds like you will be upgrading your speakers eventually anyway, so don't spend more than you are willing to lose on these speakers...

I have very similar taste in sound systems. The really bass-y systems are not appealing to me, either.
Like 18secQuaterMile, I would also recommend Pioneer 3-ways. I have a set of the now-discontinued 1667's, and I am really happy with them. I bought a second set for the rear deck, and eventually I'll get those installed. Crutchfield is an excellent reference guide for specs; you can narrow your choices, then go down to a retailer and have a listen.
You'll likely need spacer rings to install aftermarket speakers, due to the mounting depth requirements. I bought my spacers from sounddomain.com.
